Nice clear sound on and use of those acoustic guitar strings.
in fact there are no guitar samples, the main riff you are probably talking about is made with 3 different piano samples.

thanks for listening and for your kind words :)

almost forgot to notify some relevant information about JCW's entry. as you can hear the song features some external samples including:

- 2 oldskool chords
- a hoover sample

this just in case you wonder why you can't find similar sounds in the MG games. :)

here's my entry, it is called "Angel Whisper". here's the link to the topic:

here is my entry for the contest, it is made with music2000, using 100% of sound memory. i can't remember when i started working on this song, maybe it was 2003, maybe 2004. back then i conceived it as some kind of big beat tune, the beat was completely different and at first i was going to include this song in the record i was preparing (ultimaelectrica, then called the megabreaks project). then over time i decided to modify the musical genre (the piano riff didn't fit a broken beat) and went for a melodic trance style. it' almost 2010 now (year of the robot control?) and i haven't completed it yet. this is a special edition for the contest, i have added some chrismassy touches here and there. the main influences on this song were:
sasha - xpander (i'd say 60% at least)
nobuo uematsu 20%
pillagemyvillage 20%

this is the result of several hours of work over at least 5 years. i hope you enjoy

Just finished this track earlier. See how many samples from MG2 you can name!

ah, that's challenging! i'll give it a try tomorrow mate ;)

By the way Spacekid, the sampling feature on M2K is very limited and using Audicity to implement your samples is fine by my book so I think your entry is completely valid.  ;)

What do you guys think?
i forgot to answer...i agree.

nice prizes indeed! :)

How cute Tim :)
This song could be a perfect soundtrack for a J-RPG game. while listening to this i can imagine children playing in the streets of a snowy little village placed on the top of a mountain (in every RPG you can find such a scenery ;)).
So sweetie, so cute.. are you too a fan of Nobuo Uematsu?

here is the official break down of my track
made in one hour on mtv music generator aka music 2000 it is NOT mtv mg 2
recorded straight to pc in audacity no processing
user 001 riff fm bell 22khz
premade riff 1.2.3.4 found in house perc sample mean stuff 22khz  the kick
premade riff 70s 16th hats also in house perc samples sizzly open 44 khz cheap close 44 khz
first bass riff user 002 sample bow wow 22 khz used sample position parameter for the sound variation
premade riff chicago hats 2 sample nine alpha 44 khz
user riff 003 choral 11 khz
premade riff angel clap from techno perc sample dry clap44 khz
bass at 1:30 is jubass5 22 khz
the pad riff user 004 is syn string 11khz
the last riff is user 005 jufilter1 22 khz sample position parameter used for variation
all the percussion is premade-this is how i work and i make no apologies for that it was what i wanted. the rest is my riff programming                             casper

damn, i made some mistakes.. ;D
i could never imagine the key was choral and the kick was mean stuff. i need to practice more on the generator, as it seems 10 years are not enough  ;D

the hihat...i guess it's a combo of cheap close, sizzly open and an open hat, like nine alpha or nine choral. as for the bass, i guess he used smooth.. the bass at 1.30 it's hard to recognize since there are various samples with a similar sound. maybe it's jubass5, but i'm not sure at all about that. the bell is fm bell. the key at 1.02 is soft key c4 at 22khz or c5 at 44khz. the clap should be dry clap. the kick is probably a 909kick. the pad is the one and only breath bell. the ending key is not easy to recognise, it might be vari hit 1.

LOL at "scared virgo"!  ;D

lol but when you hear it you can tell its not MTVMG2 :)
??
casper's song sounds just like a song made with MTVMG. i could even write here the name of the samples he used...

@spacekid: oh what a pity. i like that song a lot

GOD you definitely need to post more often than you do. how about entering the contest? ;)

Albums / Re: A Rave in My Mind (24 track collection)
December 01, 2009, 07:14:22 PM
this collection includes various songs i already knew (my favs are blue lotus, auburn smile, brightspot) and some others i didn't know. between these ones i like 'the crush' in particular. lots of pleasant melodies in this record.

i already have a dvd filled with TIMGUL music. it's been a while since i started collecting songs to fill a second dvd. we should be able to resist an eventual crash.

glad to recreate an mtvmg2 tune, good to have the two up for comparison :)

i agree, imo that's the future of TIMGUL.

ableton tip: when it comes to spacey reverb i love Megaflexion, just increase the duration of the reverb. this combination rocks  ;)

this is a WIP song i'd like to submit to OCRemix. it's a medley of two tunes by motohiro kawashima. the song is incomplete and the ending is abrupt. i post it here because i'd like to receive some useful criticism. you probably know that the guys at OCRemix are pretty severe and sometimes harsh when judging songs, so i'd like you to be pretty harsh spotting negative aspects of my remix because i really want to make it through the selection once the song is complete. so any kind of constructive criticism is most welcome.

EDIT: here are a couple of video where you can hear the OST versions of 'the poets 1' and 'the poets 2' so you can spot the differences ;)

Non-MUSIC/MTVMG / Re: B - ambient

so this is the ultimate version of your Masterpiece. well it's impressive of course. very similar to the original version when it comes to structure but more detailed, refined, with a sharper sound. the beat is harder, the intro/outro janglings/tinkles are just devine. the melody, just as in the original version, is stunning.
hard to find any flaw, we are close to perfection here, though if i were you i would increase further the depth of the reverb, especially the reverb applied to the arpeggio. i would try to add an extra snare with a very spacey reverb on it to try to make this song sound even more epic than it already is. (well just a suggestion..sorry, i know it sounds cocky giving suggestions to a genius like you, especially about the best song you've ever made ;) )
