Title: Que? -- First Track
Post by: Season 8 on January 27, 2009, 07:16:51 PM
Okay I gave it a shot and created this first track, now bear in mind Im a total newbie so I hope this gets at least a 4/10 rating, its only 2:20 long so constructive criticism would be helpful

Hey Steven!  ;)

This is my good friend Steve, he writes lyrics for some of my tracks...it looks like I`ve managed to pass on the Music bug! :D

Anyway, for a very first effort, this isn`t bad at all, definitely better than my first ever effort (made in 1998 with the original Music, shockingly bad, I may upload it in the general section for a laugh).

My only real gripe is the intro was a tad too long, other than that everything seemed to be constructed well...not bad at all dude...keep it up!

I liked it and I thought that it was really good for your first try(And like Darkbliss it was better than my first try). I don't really listen to a lot of this type of trance(assuming its trance from the strings and melodies), So I can't really give any real constuctive critisism other than I agree that I thought the intro was too long. But I did make some tracks similar to this when I first started mixing a lot of the premade riffs. Keep at it, I'm lookng forward to seeing how you progress and find your sound.

awww bless,, a new one has been born lol, just kidding,  ;D i think stick with it and great things will come, i think everyone has used that lead sample and bass riff at some point, lol  my advice would be to mess around with the samples, like take some notes out, or put some in, move all the musical notes around till you get something more your own. but first go, not bad, any friend of Darks is a friend of mine :) peace Quade77 also steve

hey pal, nice to see ya here... wow you work with bliss... awesome!
nice production here, i take youre a trance fan? lol like quade said, that lead is something we've all used! yeah i reckon change a few notes and give it your own signiture... you can learn so much from those pre made riffs... also i really want to hear a kickdrum bang in... it would really lift the track...
great first attempt, keep em comin!

thanks man, yeah he used to live in my street, he moved like 2 mins up the road and i sent him some sample lyrics that ild written and he thought they were cool so he asked if ild lyricise some of his other tunes, but he also opened my eyes to creating some good tunes, so i gave it a shot, i think ill try and make another, like a slower one, with the kick drum, try to use some old techiniques and put them together to make a good tune, i do like the occasional trance tunes, so i thought ild open with that, if i can create a good 4 minute tune without it dragging, maybe it will open up to better tunes

Please upload it DarkBliss :)

Well The Lyricist, welcome to TIMGUL. Like Quade said, any friend of Darks is a friend of mine. We're all like family here. I must say I enjoyed it, the intro was subtle and bouncy and reminded me a little of the intro of No Limit by 2 Unlimited lol. Once it kicks in it retains its subtlety and everything else flows well together. I agree that the intro was a tad long, when I do techno/hardcore I like to flow right into the tune, but that's just me. :)
Good attempt for a first try, if you need help with anything feel free to PM me. Hope to see more from you.

i did feel the intro was too long myself thats why i remade it, i was thinking that if i can extend it somehows, maybe modify the beats a little, see if i can reinvigorate it
