Knowlesy - Father of Lies

and virtually everything else he's uploaded that I've listened to!

Epic. <Stunned silence> Beautiful. Can't really say much more!

I'm with Eddy on this - I don't know how you keep producing such volume, variety and quality. Both tunes are wicked: full of emotive force and depth.

Good stuff dude...type of stuff I wish I could write. Normally our stuff is around 110 BPM...what was this set at?

@Fear 2 Stop - by my estimation around 170 bpm

I'm not quite sure how this track manages to be so bouncy, catchy and happy and still be so serious and well produced?
Either way, good job!

Good job - like what you've done with the panning. :¬)

Nice - I was 24 so I had to buy my own! Plus, eat a side of humble pie for getting a console, since I'd always argued that it was pointless buying something I could only play games on when I had my trusty Amiga for games, music, word-processing and most anything else.

Hi, pleased to meet you!
And, if it makes anyone feel better, it is totally possible to crash the Playstation versions of Music as well!
For example, I saved one track and the volume change didn't save properly and so the tune crashed when I played it until I worked out what the problem was (luckily it hasn't recurred). Sometimes envelope modifications don't save properly (you just get a random mess of points meaning the sample doesn't play at all usually, which again can be fixed easily enough once found). And you can also do it if you apply too many effects simultaneously.
Oops, sorry, think that turned into a tips lesson...

Yet another great tune - is there no stopping this guy?

Both tracks are very impressive - especially since if you try to tell someone that Metallica jamming with a Harpsicord player works so well they'd probably think you were mad! :¬)
Love those trademark soaring melodies.

Awesome track, man, I'm amazed at how you managed to get such a heavy track out of M2K and the production still sound so clean. Respect!

Ace tune - spine-tinglingly good!
#74
Woah - absolutely bloody brilliant.
Not sure what genre it is either - but that seems pretty irrelevant!

Nice and effective - really liked the scratching (something I really struggle to get right in tunes) especially at 1:56 where it sounds like the robot talking. Then the track goes lush and melodic, which is always a good thing in my book.
Good ideas for the backstory - though I must admit I had to laugh at the typo 'rouge machines' 'cause I just got the image of terminator style androids with bad make-up!
(Sorry, no intention to mock intended.)

Okay, my second selection from my first album. Tougher vibe with a more growling bassline.

Thanks for listening!

Thankyou!

Thanks very much for the positive feedback!
Yes, it's pretty indicative of much of what I do - melody tends to dominate my composing.
Having said that, though, there is variety into the darker, harder or funkier stuff. I'll post some more links in the coming days and update here whenever I upload a new track on SoundCloud.
Stay tuned! :¬)

Okay, well here's the link for my favourite tune from my first album (Silicon Beats (The Past Present's Future))hosted over on SoundCloud. It's a full-on melodic/atmospheric piece, hope you like it. Comments welcomed here or on SoundCloud (if you're registered). Thankyou!

For those interested - it was written in 1999 using the original Music for Playstion, recorded onto MiniDisc and mastered to CD by a mate who did some general EQing. I ripped the MP3 file off the CD as I saved all my Music files on Third-Party memory cards which subsequently died, plus I found my MiniDisc player has also passed away so I can't access that recording either!

Only 9... good grief, that makes me feel old! (A near-decrepit 37.)
But cheers for the welcome, guys.
Well, I was mostly into Heavy Metal as a teenager and slowly got turned on to other rock and generally guitar-based music (always genre music, I've never been much into Pop). Left University in 1996 and discovered Dance music, DJing and clubs through my younger brother and his mates. Really love Jungle/Drum N Bass (still have a pair of Technics 1210s and a ton (almost literally) of vinyl going back to 94), but found writing Nu School Breaks/Breakbeat more interesting. I write Breaks under the name of DJ Gift (chosen primarily because gift means 'poison' in German). 'Arcane Future' is the name I chose for my record label (hey, a man can dream, can't he?), which I googled the other day and found a physics-related website in the US also uses the name, but only since 2004 or something. I digress.
Anyway, will post links very soon
