Title: Do you want your track mastered?
Post by: DarkBliss on May 05, 2011, 04:17:20 PM
If you would like me to try my hand at mastering a track of yours then place the download link here (preferably as a WAV) and I`ll get it back to you in a couple of days.

Cheers, DB.

Really? Nobody?

I just thought it would give me a bit more practise and who knows? Maybe you`ll be pleased with the result?

The process will include using the SSL Bus compressor to glue the track together, then some EQ, multiband dynamics, stereo widening and finally a limiter to make it as loud as possible. So, any takers, let me know.

may i ask too? it's non-MG music any longer but i'd love to hear the result, as i still can't handle compressors and limiters.

Yes Shell, of course you can mate. I`d love to work on a track of yours, just hope I can do it justice. :D

great then! now you should point me in some direction i guess.
-does it make any difference to work on an upbeat tune rather than working on tunes with no beat or bassline? do you have any preferences?
-i usually add equalizators to single instruments. do i have to clear it all up and leave the whole eq thing to you? may some effects like pingpong delay cause some conflict with your adjustments on the panning/multiband/widening thing aswell?
oh, and in return i could remix a song of yours. to be honest i've always wanted to. if you're interested you could send me the ableton project file. let me know mate

It`s enitrely up to you, Shell, I`d like to try my hand at a variety of  genres so wheither it`s upbeat or ambient is your choice.

You can leave the EQ/effects/reverb etc on your individual tracks but make sure there is nothing on the master channel.

I`d love for you to remix a track of mine Shell, I have 3 songs finished, Beautiful Death, Way Out and Toybox but only Toybox has been properly mixed. I could send you the raw files for Way Out or Beautiful Death with no EQ/compression on the individual channels if you wanted to do one of those though but that would mean you`d have to add the EQ to each channel yourself.

I sent a huge message to Rikki earlier explaining the mixdown and mastering stages, if I could work out how to view my sent messages on here I could copy and send it to you, too if you like. It may be of some use.

i'll send you a track of mine in the next few days.
as for the remix, my fav song is way out so i would go for it.
i'd rather get the .als file (abeton project file), for many reasons: it's a smaller file, i could replace quickly the synths you used with my fav ones, moreover the result might turn out to be more different from your own version.
as for you message to rikki, that would be a great help to me. big ups if you can send it to me. speak soon.

Hmm do you accept multiple ones?

In my case it would probably be something like Grooving to the Melody, Dark Abyss or Quest for then Legendary Axe, although if you only do dance/rave music, the latter is out of the question.

Unfortunately I don't know if I still got WAV versions of these songs, but I might have at least 320K ones.

I would offer one of my recent ventures up, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to master a M2K track recorded in Wavepad. I'm assuming 'damn near impossible'.

Ok Shell that would be great. :D

Omni and J, I`d love to have a go at one of your tracks too. It`s enitrely up to you which track you choose, doesn`t have to be dance music. Also, if you don`t have a WAV version of your track, an MP3 will do for now.

Just post the links here and I`ll see what I can do.

Cheers.

Ok unfortunately I could not find a WAV version of the songs above, but I have a 320K MP3 version of GTTM Trance Remix

And if you want to have a go at metal, I also have this track: http://i-lost-the-ga.me/DJ%20Omnimaga%20-%20Quest%20For%20The%20Legendary%20Axe%20320k.mp3

Both were done in Music 2000 for the PS1, by the way.

Omni how do I download your Quicktime tracks as an MP3?

They're normal MP3s. You need to right-click the links then save as. Otherwise you need to use a different browser.

Yeah, if you want your track to sound like it`s being performed by underwater transvestite bunnies, I`m your man.

Ha ha, cheers Shell.

I`ll be in touch with the other tracks I`ve been handed to master within the next few days.

I'm interested. I also can do the same for any of you guys. I'll post a raw, dry track soon, just so I can hear someone else's take. I will reciprocate as well!

Alrighty then, DarkBliss, if you're willing to give it a go. The best stuff I reckon you could have a go at is the stuff I've done for 'The Toriningen's Picnic Boombox Mixtape'. Shit's nice and trippy, hahaha.

I'm not Bliss, but here's my stab at "Dissonance in the Garden of Red Flowers". Did some EQ'ing, and it should sound pretty full now.

It's a nice track...you did great on this J :)

That's pretty fucking sick, man! You can really hear the effects you've had on the track, and it sounds really damn full, meaty, like it's actually USING every audio channel it can. You might not be bliss, but I apritiate the gesture all the same :'D

The Tragic Circumstance Theory by J-MACHine mastered by DarkBliss.

Was gonna do Dissonance in the Garden of Red Flowers but Fear 2 Stop got there before me. Damn you Fear, damn you!

Anyway, hope you like it dude, sorry it`s taken a while to get round to it, been really busy on some of my own stuff this week.

Nice tracks, by the way. :D

(I tried uploading this directly to the site but it wouldn`t work for some reason so here`s a Mediafire link to it instead).

There's something wrong with the download, mate. It keeps chucking me a 55.7kb file that won't play my way. >>
