:o Can you do that in m2k? I didn't even know that..LOL I remember seeing that option in one of the MUSIC series generators,...But cant remember which one  :D

:) I think it has some advantages over normal mem cards,They have a larger surface so you can write the info for all the saves on the front and you can file them in a case,More to the point is they are alot cheaper than a memory card!! As for the drive itself,I dont know where or if you could get one.Ebay maybe? I,ve never had any problems using this (unlike the original grey mem cards which sometimes don't read at all or if it does the files wont load because they are corrupted) That 360 block card sounds good but if they are anything like the original "sony" ones then i will probably give them a miss.

Maybe andy c - "body rock" Jcw?

:D I was wondering does anyone here use one of these for saving song files on?

These floppy discs allow you  save exactly as you would with a normal playstation memory card,......And they are cheap as chips!!!!Lol

As for memory cards,I have had problems more than once with the original grey playstation one cards,Sometimes they wont read and i have had to wriggle them about in the slot to get them read(doesnt always work though :( )
Havn't had a problem with those joytech cards that go quite cheap in job lots on ebay.

:) Ok i've just been messing about with the >>3 note repeat thing.

I made a string of triplet snares 3 snares to every beat using the "Creating Swing [triplet] Rythms In MUSIC 2000/MTV MUSIC GENERATOR" topic as a guide.http://www.mtv-music-generator.com/index.php?topic=1296.msg7601;topicseen#new(placing a note in every triplet)

The first four bars i used the >>3 note repeat setting on every note

The second four bars i didn't use the >>3 note repeat setting

When i played them back there was a noticable difference in timing between the first four bars and the second four bars

Also i've noticed that if you have the >>3 note repeat setting turned on you cant place a note repeat in the last 2 boxes of the grid.

Any theories as to why this is and what it actually does,Could it move the note repeat forward 0.3? What do you think?

Im kinda on a mission to make a mathmatically perfect TRIPLET rythm in m2k at the moment and i think this >>3 note repeat thing might be the key!!

:DLovin it ,Youve got a way with beats!!! Im still movin after its finished Lol!!.Like the pads with the vocal samples,And then after the First drop where the bass switches,Quality...I think i recognize the first bass sample after the first drop,Didn't you use that in Just Drums n Bass?

Iv'e tried but it doesn't ad up mathmaticaly as you can see below,But you can always settle for the next best thing which doesn't sound half bad!

Ok so there are 4 beats per 1 bar
Each beat has space to place 4 notes
You want 3 notes per every beat(triplet)
XXX0XXX0XXX0XXX0
When you constuct your beats,If you use the note repeat settings below for each note you place be it a snare, kick, hihat etc.You should end up with swing.

Here is how i would set the note repeat for each 3 notes(triplet) of every beat(4 notes)
1st note of a beat
X0000000
2nd note of 1 beat
000X0000
3rd note of 1 beat
00000X00
It seems imposible to get perfect triplet in m2k........Unless that >>3 thing above where you place the note repeats has somthing to do with it?! There is 16 notes per bar 16 divided by 3 = 5.3....could it move the note repeat foward that 0.3 ? :)

X marks the spot BTW

Here is an short example i made in a few minutes,Increase the volume on the right,...ThenJust press play!!  Jazzstep DnB Style!

PS,I'd like to add check your loaded percussion samples in the sample editor to make sure that they are trimmed correctly. If they are not it could make it sound off slightly,There are a number of percussion samples in this programme that have a gap of silence before the wave comes in.If this is the case then trim it up to where the sample really starts.Wouldn't make alot of difference to the ear,...But if you were a dj trying to get the beatmatch allignment perfect it could make a difference :)

I use imported samples often, you are right that sampling using the MUSIC software does not give the same results as sampling using pc software,But i have learned a few tricks that will help enhance the quality of the imported samples when trimming/cutting.

I've noticed that when you import single hit samples such as kiks, snares hi-hats etc that are very short,When you trim them to size you lose the quality. Its almost as if you have lost the attack that the sample had originally,Makes it sound less crisp/punchy,I havent found this to be too much of a problem when using longer samples.(Although if you set the sample rate to 44khz it sounds nothing like it)

I always trim any sample before increasing the volume in the ADSR envelope because i've noticed that if you increase the volume first then trim/cut the sample,You will most likley be left with horrible clicks, crackles & pops.

A good tip for trimming and setting a loop point of any sample is zoom in to the wave pattern as far as you can and cut the sample at a point where the squiggly line of the waveform meets the central horizontal line of the sample editor,This will make the sample end in a neutral position and will get rid of the click that you might otherwise have had.

I use this same tecnique to set a loop point. For example if you trim the end of the sample so that the wave line comes from above the central line and is trimmed so that it meets the central line,Then i would set the loop point at a position where the wave line also comes from above and meets the central horizontal line of the editor,Thus creating a continuous wave,if done right it should not snap, crackle, pop or anything like that.

But it can depend on the sample,For instance if the nature of the sample changes from where the loop point is set,To where the sample ends it might be difficult to make the end blend with the loop point.

Trust me this works :)
