Season 8

I'm not always one to ask for comments but sometimes it's the only way an artist can grow is to receive constructive criticism. I have recently posted 3 new tracks including a remix of one of Bliss's best tracks which is Mechanical Afterlife. I see that 4 people have downloaded it yet no one has commented. I would really appreciate some comments on my work as I would really like to know where I am excelling at and where I'm going wrong. Again, it's not in my nature to ask for this, but sometimes it helps, as I wouldn't want to make music on the wrong track and be stuck there. Obviously, if anyone were to comment then the favour would be returned.

good topic here lyricist. i have a couple of considerations to express. i'm a huge fan of constructive criticism but i admit sometimes i have to keep myself from leaving suggestions (which i always consider useful) in order to avoid being considered arrogant and cocky. some guys here are well known for their hate of constructive criticism while others (including me) are well known for their apppreciation of honest and direct comments. imo the problem is, most of the time I/we don't know which is the best thing to do, because you never know how other people may react. so that probably prevents people from being rude but also it disencourages comments.
you have to consider also that a suggestion is useful if the listeners do understand which is your intent with a certain song. your tracks are very experimental and that's why i often couldn't tell if some of your ideas are the result of a long, well thought-up masterplan or maybe they are just the consequence of lack of experience. if i knew which is your intent with a song (how you would like it to sound like...) i could be way more helpful with my comments and i guess all the other listeners would.

i would rather have my song torn apart than to be ignored so go ahead and point out my flaws as long u are downloading and keeping my song u may as well say something-at this point i am immune to constructive criticism- my methods aren't gonna change so say what u will friends i like the way i write my tunes and it works for me if someone else thinks they can do better maybe they should remake it the way they think it should be done-i'd love to hear that casper

Season 8

The way I see it is, many people may not like constructive criticism (myself not being one of them), but it would be arrogance in my opinion if people put tunes on here with the intent of others not liking what they say. What bugs me is that a lot of people work very hard on tunes and myself included would prefer to see some form of comment, even if it's negative because then it shows the activity in the forum and the caring of others with respect to your tunes. Virgo yeah I suppose I never do go in a direct way with regards to how I wanted it to sound which is fair enough. I just make what I make when I have a good idea. I don't like to rush and I respect that you do comment as does Casper and Nak and Bliss amongst others (and if I haven't mentioned anyone in that list I apologise). I just think more comments and not just on mine would show the activity in the forum and the interest. I appreciate that those who have said they will listen in this topic will listen, I guess I'm just trying to inject some social drug into the forum in a strange way.

Season 8

Yeah I saw that dude, but it may get confusing as such, in my opinion I think that there is no real way to address the situation as many people will either comment or not. Thats the downside to free will I guess. Maybe if there was like someway of saying people should comment before posting their own or something. I dunno, it's just frustrating because I've done 3 new tunes (and within a month thats a lot for me) and yet I've collectively had about 4 comments on all. That's just wrong

well this site is shit when hardly anyone will comment so that problem needs to be solved so if yall don't want this site going to shit we better do something                  casper
everyone wants feedback on their tunes or we wouldn't even bother posting-the people on this forum when i first joined genuinely cared for one another and wanted to make each other happy-there was wonder and excitement every day seeing what new tracks were posted and who hit yer own tracks and the encouragement that was given-somewhere we lost that heart that made this a home instead of a forum.that made this more than a reverb nation or a gimmie sound-it was a place where a novice felt as important as a pro because we had an audience that we knew really cared-we can have that back if we just take a risk and let ourselves care again-and the one thing i know i can do is let people know i'm listening and that i appreciate their gift of music for what it is-a gift from their heart                                 casper

I'm just gonna repost what I said in the other thread...lol

Well what you'd do is. Make a sticky of the rules of posting in all the music showcase. (Above each genre, they get a sticky) State that you must comment on a song before posting yours. This keeps it fair. Reduces the amount of clutter and need to bump also.

I think everyone here who uses the program or not still has interests in what others can create. Just a thought.
