After doing some research, I discovered that the Music wiki page was wrong in saying that Music 2002 was a PC version of MTVMG2 for PS2. I looked through the webarchive and found old Jester websites, and I looked at one that still had the Music 2002 page here:

http://web.archive.org/web/20061006200951/...om/music2002ce/

It appears that Music 2002 is a remake of Music 2000/MTV Music Generator for the PC. Same controls, same features, similar look. There were one good and one bad differences though:

-The good difference is that it features club samples and good ones from slinky. This means it is even more suitable for Techno/Trance/House producers. It also have more samples in total than Music 2000 had.

-The bad difference is that unlike MTV Music Generator (idk if it was the same for Music 2000 the european version), Music 2002 no longer have a royalty-free license. This means that you are no longer allowed to sell or publish your songs using the samples in the program by adding the MTVMG logo on your CD pocket. You have to use your own samples. So basically it is more suitable if you only create freeware stuff like the songs on this forum.

Do you (or anyone) know if it will work on an American PC?
I couldn't find any evidence that it was released here.

It was never released in North America, but I'm sure it will work because I tried an european demo of Music 2000 a few days ago and it did. You just need to be lucky and find someone on Ebay who ships to north america and have a version of Music 2002 to sell.

been checking it out. looks really good. id love to have it for the ps2! i can get it here in the uk for about 10 pounds. i was wondering... is it hard to use music2000 on the pc? im only used to playstation controls...

DJ_Omnimaga

On the PC controls are really bullcrap. The shortcuts are completly different than most windows apps so getting used to them is a chore. But for those who can get used to them it's even better than the psone version

pillagemyvillage

hmmm ok i might have to try out music 2002 on the pc. i imagine it would be quite refreshing..?

God!
i hope its better than the P.C. Version
of MTVMG/1

i was so discugested with the quality!

and oh where the heck would you find this at?

and has anybody heard any of the tracks produced on this ?

pillagemyvillage

theres a copy of it on uk ebay right now for around 5 pounds starting price.
maybe i wouldnt say the quality of mtvmg1 is that bad... check out some of the music created on this site... angel in the stars is testiment to what can be done with mtvmg1. if you know what you are doing the results are very professional

DJ_Omnimaga

I think it may be related to a very bad sound card or bad settings, because for me the quality in MTVMG1 PC is better than on the PS1 MTVMG1 or even the Playstation 2 MTVMG2. My only problem was the horrible controls, which is why I still use the PS1 version. Idk why but I think the Music 2002 software is pretty much the same though, just with better graphics/interface and different (and more) samples and without the royalty free license

so wow!
its not royality free, i mean they have got to mean the presets like how in Music generator 3000, like the songs they had on there like the outkast song and sean paul, i think those are the stuff you can publish or use royality free, but then again i can judge till i play it

but wow you said you think it may be because of the sound card?

because yeah , far as making beats with the PS1, i mean ive gotten far so far where ive done some major placements with some celebs, and thier label was shocked when i brought in a PS1 for Tracking to the studio!,

but far as the p.c. one......hmm i guess it just might be the soundcard i have, because on my computer When
i add alot of Instruments to the song it starts to have this irratating fee back
like so,

and i just wanted to show a example
heres one of the Demo songs from mtvmg that comes with it
It has a Reverb effect on it and everthing, but its just horrid! see how it has that click in it?

http://www.zshare.net/audio/71861085d6766d/
(you dont have to download it, it plays when u click it on thier site, )
what do you guys think?

note:

and also, now i see a lot of people talking about the controls for the pc version,
but cant you buy those controllers that look like playstation controllers for the P.c.
and just configure it to how simlar the P.S.1 buttons are?

DJ_Omnimaga

Actually I don't even hear the reverb O.o. The song isnt too bad though, but yeah I remember MTVMG1 PC having better sound for the bass though and you didn't heard that clicking effect as much.

mrrap4food

i mean what could be the cuase of somthing like this?

DJ_Omnimaga

mrrap4food

but let me ask you this, do you think, if you buy a controller that looks like the one for the PS1, can you configure the controlls ?

DJ_Omnimaga

I'm not sure that Music 2000 PC support joy/gamepads, but again I would need to check again to make sure. It would rule if it did because it would make my job much easier

DJ_Omnimaga

I FINALLY GOT IT!

Here's a demo song that was in the program load/save options:

It's pretty much similar style of music that this program is designed for. I checked the new samples and there are lot of cool ones, especially hard synths, sound effects and kickdrums. It also have all samples from Music 2000 (altouhg not from MTV Music Generator 2)

The only thing that annoys me is that sometimes the program will not let you insert notes on the first channel of any riff. It must be a bug or I must be doing something wrong.

I will mess with it later, but for now you can enjoy the first Music 2002 video ever on youtube :)
