rofl! it's almost embarassing! we're babbling like old men about good ol' times!
#202
lol, you're right NaN!!!

Manta-Ray: whales sample, piano c5, glass bass + something like high freq pad at very low volume, hi strings... ;D ;D ;D
#203
amazing result

i'd like to see such section. it's not the first time that someone purposes to modify a bit the music sections and i still can't see nothing bad about it. the existing sections are not that perfectly structured imo, the 'other' section includes so many different styles, it could be worthy to split them into more accurate sections. it would be much easier to find the songs from a specific genre. right now it seems to me like a miscellaneous folder. not efficient, if you know what i mean
#205
why don't you just bump directly the threads?

Lost songs (MUSIC/MTVMG) / Re: Pocketsize Starfights
August 23, 2009, 02:41:09 PM
i see you're downloading lots of stuff these days. man, i can't wait to see your reply in the thread 'best songs from timgul members'...(as well as replies by other members of course....*coughs*  ;D)

as i told in an old topic
http://www.mtv-music-generator.com/index.php?topic=1416.20
the nickname shellshaka is something i don't like anymore.. it sounded cool to me some time ago but it doesn't really mean much.
'sacred virgo' ('sacrovirgo' in italian) is an old nickname of mine that means much to me. somehow i feel that it is connected with my current way and style of making music, also with my personality. 'mystical and ethereal', rather than 'cool and aggressive', if you know what i mean. back in the days i dreamed about being the coolest deejay/producer of electronic music ever. nowadays i'd prefer to be considered a 'musician' instead of a 'producer'. also my sources of inspiration changed a lot over time. for example when i first started using music2000 i never thought that i'd be able to make rpg music with that. i started creating mostly dance stuff. now that i prefer to produce ambient, downtempo, rpg-like music, i feel that my good old nickname sacrovirgo suits much more my music as well as my spirit and personality. so this song is officially sacred virgo's stuff.

okay, sorry, enough with the ramblings  ;D

sure, i'll post it for you. here it is. oh, and don't forget this is from one of my (too many) WIP records, so it is a WIP itself. i do not expect to modify it too much though

the 2008 version is better imo, and its my 2nd fav from beoulve right after enchanted forest. amazing melody.

Downtempo / Re: B - ambient
August 22, 2009, 09:50:56 AM
when this came out, i listened it immediately but i never left a comment about it. my bad.
well there's really not much to say about this song. we're just in the presence of an absolute masterpiece, one of the most majestic works of art made with the MG software, ever. the result of superior technical skills, inspiration and talent.
i'm not sure if this can be considered the best song ever on here but surely it is very close. probably in my personal top 5.
this is one of the songs that make me proud just for being a part of this community.

Rap/Hip Hop / Re: MindMeld

i guess what you have here is a combination of sizzle sweep, full monty, one of the vowel samples and pulse width (i may be wrong as i haven't checked them, this is just what i can recall right now). you're right the full monty as well as other weird samples like the vowels make you feel uncomfortable about using them in a song. being able of including such odd samples in a song is a remarkable thing. cool dark sound. oh, stinger too?

I wanted to ask - is this forum still busy? I would like to participate in this forum to share ideas, music and tips with people - but I read a "goodbye" thread from another member saying it's a bit dead lately... kind of discouraging?

the site itself is still cool, yet lately imo is afflicted by 2 major problems
1 selfishness: too many people pretending to receive feedback without giving to the others. how the hell can they expect the forum to work this way? how could they be so blind not to understand that?
2 greed: people avoiding as much as possible to upload their songs here for free. this is just against the original spirit of the forum. some time ago people used to make music just for the fun of it, now all of a sudden too many seem to be only focused on making money out of it.
well this seems highly ridicolous to me, but whatever

@rikki:i'd like to hear your remix of the tomb raider theme (there's another one on the site).  i love that theme (as well as the game) so i'd really like to listen to your version.
@JCW: mate, your new post edit is very cool. i look forward to the final version of purple and red, in particular i can't really wait any longer to hear the final version of amen tester, my fav from you ever

PS: I have already made a remix of Philes which Tim said he really liked :) yay me. Would I be able to post it on this forum?

welcome here. sure you can post it here, it is most welcome. how did you get feedback from tim?

about freedom, i don't have any copy of the original music so i can't help you there

Downtempo / Re: Napsbury
August 10, 2009, 04:35:14 PM
i agree with jcw, lovely pads and beat, bliss would be proud of that. nice piano notes too. try to add some more reverb to the tinkerbell to make it sound more ethereal. good atmospheric song.
#219
i love the beat, the scratch and the strings. the ending is great mate, nice work. imo you should remove or modify the orchestral stabs, which are a bit cheesy and imo ruin the nice atmosphere you created
#220
i guess i should answer too.
about non-timgul, my choice is very easy: the FSOL and the almighty nobuo uematsu.
when it comes to timgul guys the choice is really tough... it's very cool when i feel that other producers share my same own tastes, yet at the same time i admire the skills of those who have mastered styles of music i'm not used to produce.
for his composition skills i'd like to work with beoulve (i'm a j-rpg music fan and producer too), for his variety of styles and production skills i'd like to work with stonecold, as an overall i'd like to work with bliss..

..but heck i'd work with anyone here too. there's such a wide variety of different skills here, it's just amazing. everyone here has a peculiar talent, which is expressed in the most different ways
