hi guys, this is the result of my very first attempt with ableton. i know it's not much, it's just a test of an amen break and some sfx in the background repeated over and over.
however now it is clear to me that ableton has some serious potential, the effects seem to be very good and the program is easy to use when you know what you have to do to make it work.
so this is the beginning of my training, hopefully it will turn into a new era for my productions. it's a weird and exciting feeling to get back to the status of beginner.

welcome back. for some strange reason i can't download the song

thanks for listening and commenting bliss. you're right, i'm very devoted to my creations, but this time you have to know that my opinion is a bit different. i consider ultimaelectrica the best complete album in terms of production values, but i have to admit i do not feel that much affection for it. i prefer at least 5 other albums, there i put all my heart, while the quality of this record it's mostly a matter of technical skill. besides Depressurizzazione In Corso is probably my least favourite track, as i consider it no more than a decent intermission. on the contrary i'm very proud of the 3 'trancey' tunes (1, 3, 10)

what's that "Victorious"?? is it a very old track of yours? upload it again bliss, i never had the chance to hear it!

nice song, very catchy and playful, i liked it. so you want some constructive criticism? let's see..

1 the reverb of music3000 completely sucks (it's not your fault). so i recommend you to use other software in combination with music3000 in order to enhance its poor reverb.
2 this song sounds a bit empty at times. try to fill that void with some sfx

not even the famous 'chinese democracy' album by guns 'n roses took this long to be completed!

ok sounds good... i was thinking that everyone could pick 3-5 songs from each genre, then merge all of those selected songs creating an overall poll and choice of which songs are available to vote for...

good idea. this way everyone has the chance to promote songs that other members didn't had the chance to listen. besides every musical genre will have an equal treatment, so this seems a fair system to me. i think 3 songs per genre will be enough to get a large number of songs available for vote

it won't take long before i can write down my top 10 favourites. unfortunately there are lots of broken links so i cannot listen to the songs which were not uploaded as attachments

the tracks are 11! i had to split the folder in 2 because the original folder was too big. you've probably downloaded only the first part, check out again my pm

i see. yes, it could work, but maybe it's more fun to see which are the top 5/10 songs picked by the other members, isn't it?

Well, I think we should each come up with a list of our best songs, and let people vote for which one is the best.

you mean every member should post a list including his own songs? or maybe you mean a list including the best songs from other members? (sorry, it's a matter of language)

heck, despite the previous comments i wasn't prepared to face the opening beat. harder than i could ever imagine. the beginning is quite shocking, but then the song starts to flow nicely and a nice melody grows out of the noise as the song evolves. this song is fun and pretty unique as most part of your previous work. your style is always fresh and original and i like that a lot. the ending is a bit abrupt though, was it a part of your plan or a mistake in the recording process?

Behind the scenes of Spiaggia Lunare:
I created this song on music3000 in a couple of hours, which is really unusual to me. It was 5th april 2005, so you can figure out where the name comes from. At that time a good friend of mine, a talented photographer,  was launching his first website. He asked me to come to his place to create some musical background for the homepage. He wasn't satisfied by my work and I was really pissed off. Before leaving, I made him listen to some of my most recent songs. He really enjoyed this one. He came up with the idea to create a special widescreen page dedicated to the best photos with musical background. We reviewed the photos until we found one which matched perfectly the atmosphere of the song. The photo, of course, was called 'spiaggia lunare' (which in Italian means 'lunar beach').
After a few days he suddenly phoned me: "I'm gonna launch the website this evening, you have to complete the song and record it by then". I told him: "I need some extra wave sound and a sample of seagulls. It's extremely important". He sent me the sounds in the late afternoon so I had no more than 2 hours to complete the song. The seagull sample was a real pain in the ass, because it was 15 seconds long and I wanted to apply it to a song which is 1min20sec long, so I had to split the sample and then modify the various  pieces to make them sound different from each other. I also added a tiny sample of a seabird from FSOL's 'dead cities' album (BTW I love that record); I modified it to make it sound somehow melancholic. I call it 'the sad seagull', you can hear it at 00.16". finally, I added a better reverb to the awful one of music3000. however, I made it, just in time. Ironically, I don't know if the website it's still there, I've never checked it out recently.

My opinions: I think this is a solid ambient tune, but I don't think that the production is that great. If I could have done it with mtvmg2 rather than the crappy music3000 it would have been much, much better. The lack of time and the poor quality of the seagull sample make me think that the production is far from being flawless. I can do better than that. I'm going to put off a remake of this song someday. Not in the close future, though

good news! here's the revisited version of the song. my friend has finally provided the original photo so i've been able to create a youtube video. here's the link:

i hope you enjoy. i think it's very cool

cool idea but i fear it's too pretentious, dear errol.
maybe every member could pick his top 10 or top 5 songs, then it could be possible to make a poll including the most nominated songs.
yet this requires the partecipation of a significant number of members who have listened a significant number of songs, and i'm not sure that this fits our forum. i mean, we are a small community and probably few guys have listened an adequate number of songs so far (otherwise they would probably have replied in my 'best songs' thread)

good to see you back, TPT. and good to know that my list of recommended tracks is useful after all. this song is surely one of the best from spacekid.

my last tune... 'the end of an era'.

what about that as a title for this track?

if you choose this title you should thank that ruthless errol at least  ;D
