First off- I'm not ignoring you guys that have commented on my tracks; I just dunno what to say in response beyond "Thanks!" and I'd like to be able to think of more to say. I aprititate every single comment I get on my works- and I do read them, even if I take a while to get back to you!

Second, this is another track heavily inspired by the webcomic Memoria- specifically the most recent two pages, in which one of the main characters has an especially trippy and emotional dream sequence. Though not an exact replica of the style, this piece is heavily inspired by the works of Pogo, and is a fairly slow, laid back Trip Hop/Downtempo track with light beats and (mostly) lo-fi synths.

Enjoy!

Last song I'll upload for a while, so I can answer replies/check out new stuff by you guys.

It's a little different, this song, in the way it progresses and plays out. It's not a COMPLETELY out-there structure, but it's not the usual "intro-chorus-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-breakdown-chorus-outro" progressiong either. It's a track I'm doing for a concept album I wanna create named '[Emulate: Me]'. It focuses on a boy robot, specifically designed with a typical 'cute' exterior with the intent of making people happy, that's created with an advanced emotion drive at a time in the future when everyone- even the robots- have become dissillusioned with live, and are utterly miserable and hopeless; enough so that whilst crime rates have dropped significantly, the world has fallen into a state of disrepair, and a number of rogue machines are planning to take this opertunity to go skynet on everyones ass. The story revolves around the lead Boy Robot learning and understanding emotions whilst being dragged on an adventure to change the world for the better by his creator, and one of the creator's earlier attempts at creating a robot to 'remind everyone of what it's like to feel alive', who's so suicidally depressed and bitterly cynical he'd give Marvin a run for his money.

The track, at the moment, is instrumental, but I plan to eventually have vocals laid down on it, as well as spolen parts to help drive the story along, both in the track itself, and put seperately on the album. I just need voice actors for that, hahaha.

I'm actually really proud of the track overall, even if it is a touch different. The bouncing bassline was the main draw of this tune from the start, with the chords, and the organ and string acompliments in the chorus/bridge/breakdown mean't to carry bassline along, like the beat. It's the same sort of deal with the blippy arps in the verses; everything around them bar the bassline is mean't to carry them along, rather then it be the other way around. Which isn't to say I didn't put time into making anything else sound good- It took longer to get the lo-fi drums in the verses to sound right then you'd image- ESPECIALLY the oldschool snare!

Enjoy!

A short closing track done with a shuffled drum machine beat using a simple repeating chord riff and aome arps. I intend to have a good mate of mine- a guitarist in a local Melodic Death Metal band- do a quick solo over the section before the end at some point in the near future. Names for one of my favorite musicians of all time, Nobuyoshi Sano.

A mellow remix of my track 'The Hardman and his Mighty Boombox' done using some of the same samples, at a slower pace, with a different beat, done for my 'Beatology' mixtape.
Enjoy!
#5
The title kinda gives it away, really; it was just a bit of experimentation done with some riffs I had lying around that I've been meaning to use for ages. It's something I've done for my mixtape side project, 'Beatology', and is probably the least contemporary of the songs on the whole thing. It's probably the black sheep track of the entire project. It defies catagorisation, but it's pretty close to electro. I think.
I can't really explain this one; it's one of those things that really requires a listen.

It was inevitable I'd post a demo eventually. I didn't think it'd be this soon after my comeback.
It's a piece I started this evening, and my second attempt at Dubstep... and it actually sounds like Dubstep this time. 8D;; And this is when I was intentionally going for the 'Hypnostep' sound 'Unnatural' had.
Still, I'm pleased with the result so far, but it still needs work- The bass need's fiddling with, and I need to figure out why the arps have distorted and fuzzed up slightly.

Enjoy the preview all the same!

The most sample-heavy work I've done, albiet sounds rather then melodies on the sample table, this is something that crawled up out of my nightmares and made itself known via Music 2000 the other evening. I figured I'd share it all with you. Because I care.
This is what Yume Nikki does to me, hahahahaha.

Enjoy!
#8
Because I just can't keep away from sampling Yume Nikki background music. This is about an hour and 20 minutes worth of work, including the balancing- what little there was to do on this one- and setting up the sample loops, done mostly for a bit of fun, and as a means of building a song around samples properly, which so far I haven't really done- I have included outside samples in a few of my tracks before, but mostly they've been included or mixed in with the song already rather then having had the song been built around them. The only other example is the other track I've done that sampled a Yume Nikki track a while back- the Downtempo one. As for what the samples in this actually are- there's an unidentified drumloop mixed in with custom drums, and as mentioned above there's two pieces of BGM from Yume Nikki sampled. Which are;

1) The Block World BGM:

2) Mars-san's "Theme":

I was going for a track that sounds like it COULD have someone singing or rapping over it, but it isn't specifically intended to have vocals, if you get me.

Enjoy!

Downtempo / Unnatural [HYPNOSTEP]
May 10, 2011, 05:28:19 PM
This one's something of a black sheep even in regards to the range of genre's I work with. It's something I did for a project of mine that's stylistically weird and a bit out-there, so I guess the result I wound up with is actually pretty apropriete. It's heavily dubstep inspired- but it isn't really true "dubstep". There's no true bass drop, and whilst the beat changes samples throughout, the structure between each loop is... not exactly the same, but it never deviates from the same basic rhythm. The whole thing comes off more as a chilled downtempo track with some crushing basslines, that, thankfully, if not true dubstep material, still shake the ribcage when the subwoofer is turned on. And a guitar loop for good measure.
Just popping this up along with the music dump in the Albums section as a little 'I'm not dead guys really' notice.

Albums / Absolutely Bloody EVERYTHING.
May 03, 2011, 09:24:13 AM
Completed Tracks. Current Demo's. Works done under other alias'/use of my real name. Tracks I did a couple of weeks ago, and tracks from way back in 2007, for everything I've ever worked on, from ongoing projects to ones that sputtered out a long time ago. AND ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING IS PROPERLY TAGGED. Delete any other copies of my work you have and replace them with the ones here. Due to filesize, I had to split what otherwise would've been single files into seperate parts.

I ALSO WANT TO POINT OUT THAT NONE OF THE RELEASES IN THE COMPLETE FOLDER ARE FINISHED ALBUMS, AND TRACKS THAT ARE INTENDED TO HAVE VOCALS OR EXTRA INSTRUMENTAL BITS DO NOT YET HAVE THEM, BUT WHEN THEY DO THEY WILL EVENTUALLY BE PUT UP INDIVIDUALLY.

Consider this my way of apologising for being inactive for ages. And my exscuse to slap everything together and stick it somewhere. Because I'm starting to tire of Last.fm

Rock/Metal/Pop / Heroes of Olympia [Synthpop, Soundtrack]
February 13, 2011, 09:44:31 PM
A little something for something I'm working on. A Character Select screen track. I was trying to go for the type of sound found in Arika-made fighting games (e.g. Fighting Layer, the Street Fighter EX series, etc.)

Not a whole lot else to say, really, other then this is another one of those tracks I pushed out in barely 3 or 4 hours of contious work. I've been on a roll this weekend, apparently, haha.

Enjoy!

Tired and, whilst not exactly "hungover", still recovering from a night of throwing back beers atm, so I honestly cannot be arsed with long messages. All you're getting is this is a trademark J-MACHine track; breakbeats, synths, and strings, peppered with some flutes and band hits for extra flourish, at about 135bpm, so it's not exactly breakcore, but it's not hip hop either. It's also the third track I've done based on the webcomic Memoria, which is seriously well-worth a read, and can be found here: http://memoria.valice.net/?page_id=169

Enjoy.

There's only a couple of things I can say about this track. The first is that I tried to create something suspenseful, slightly creepy, that sets you on edge and sounds otherwordly and bizzare without being too "out there".

The second is that I produced this whilst sick a couple of weeks ago and on a massive Clock Tower high (in fact, the song title itself references the title of a sojng from the first Clock Tower, called 'Don't Cry, Jenifer', which you can listen too here: ). If you don't remember/have never heard of Clock Tower before, it's an obscure Survival Horror "series" (only two of the titles actually connet to one another, the other two 'sequals' only really use the same basic premise) where, usually (except, again, for the two latter sequals), the emphesis is purely on SURVIVING; There's only one or two baddies, a variaty of traps, and no weapons; when you run into a bad guy, there's only one option; run and hide, or stumble upon a "cut-scene" triggered trap sequence that takes your persuer out for a short amount of time. Even then, hiding isn't always going to save you. Because I'm hopefully going to be working on something similar when I get the free time, I wanted to have a track that gave off the same feel.

Hope you enjoy!

Rock/Metal/Pop / Rage Without Reason [SYNTHPOP, GAME]
February 08, 2011, 05:23:21 PM
Struggled with this track for a while, in that i had the Chorus melody and all of the chords sorted out, but no melody for the verse. Managed to nail it today, though. All in all i reckon the tracks taken about 4 or 5 hours spread over about a month or so, counting the two hours of final additions, touch ups, volume mixing and whatnot. I reckon this features one of the best basslines I've thrown together in a while, the tune being played both using a meaty synthpop sounding sample mix, and a more acid-styled one, bouncing between the two and playing at the same time occasionally, backed by some dreamy synths and drums that alternate/mix between a "real" drumkit with some Tam/Hat licks and a Digital-Drum-Esque type beat.

Enjoy!

Video Game/Film Soundtracks / A Real Heavy Metal Rhythm
January 23, 2011, 03:34:58 PM
Oh god, me and my puns.

Another Mother 3.5 track, which i spent crafting for a couple'a hours this afternoon. Another example of just how much i've been improving recently, this. Can't really think of a lot to say. Mixed industrial with Synthpop, shuffled the key around in-song, and this is the result.

Enjoy!

A reworked version of a song from one of the many projects under my belt. Not a whole lot to say beyond 'i've shifted a few things around, added some new bits, and removed the vocals due to memory limitations causing the file to crash upon loading, requiring me to load riffs and rebuild the song from there'.

Enjoy!

A preview of a track i've got yet to finish, done for the Mother 3.5 project. When it's finished, i hope to have the instrumental version played in-game, and i'll try to see if i can get ahold of someone to spit bars over a couple of sections for a bonus version of the track. Features probably the best edited version of the Breaker loops i've done.

Enjoy the preview!

House/disco / Heaven Highway -Past-
January 08, 2011, 10:04:15 PM
A tune heavily inspired by the Japanese version of the soundtrack from Sonic CD, which was very early-90s-techno/house inspired. One of the best tunes i've done in a while, i reckon.

Name: 'FUCKING ROTTERS! EVERYWHERE!', said Papa -demo-
Artist: Damn That Rotter!
Album: The Day the Rotters Came Home
Genre: Rotterdam Techno, Gabber

This is a taste-bud tantelizer of a side project i've been meaning to kick start for a while, under a new alias. But first, lets get some context;
I love Rotterdamn Techno and Gabber. Specifically, the way Shinji Hosoe, AKA Sampling Masters MEGA/Megaten, handles the genre's. I shan't spam this post with video's, but i HIGHLY reccomend you look up the following songs before you download this one: 'Rotterdamn Nation, 'yzarc ruoY', 'Return of Rottel-Gem', 'Rotteldam', 'Primitive recycling', and the work he did with Ayako Saso on the 'overdrive hell' series. It's the energetic craziness of the genre that grabs me.

Though i use the J-MACHine moniker for a number of my works using a variaty of genres, i've wanted to use different aliases for a couple of others, not as a means of distancing myself from the work, but just as a way of identifying that the work tagged under this Alias is highly different from the stuff i do under another. Henceforth why i started planning out the 'Damn That Rotter!' side project, which'll cover works under these genre's specifically.

This track here's one i've only just started work on, and is more or less me just getting a feel at working with this sort of style, but i wanted to give you guys a taste of what i'll be cooking up alongside my main work. The finished version hopefully won't be too long away.

Enjoy!

Downtempo / Have a Break [Slowjammer, Trip Hop] -Demo-
December 28, 2010, 06:16:03 AM
Still a W.I.P, but i've got the main elements of the track down. I just need to extend it a bit, and put a bit more meat on it's bones with some more riffs and melody. I was going for a chillout vibe similar to a mixture between Akira Yamaoka's 'Silent Hill' works, or Masafumi Takada's 'Killer7' stuff, with a little phase-1-Gorillaz flavor on top.
'

Because i don't have enough on my plate (OBVIOUSLY), i've been in the process of kickstarting an older work and nearly-completely rebuilding it from the ground up. I would have started this later, but i happened to get a huge attack of inspiration for all aspects of the project from a number of different sources, the main source of inspiration being the barrage of insanity Goichi Suda- AKA Suda51, AKA 'Japan's Answer to David Lynch, only further derranged and harbouring an obsession with Masked Wrestlers'- released on the world back in 2005, after several delays, that we know as the direly-in-need-of-more-love Killer7. Not even just the game or the story, but the soundtrack helped inspire me, and eventually led to the creation of... This beast.

It's really only the result of a couple'a hours work, plus about 15 minutes of final tweaks and edits, and it's short- purposfully so, it's supposed to be cutscene music- but i'm proud of it regardless. I wanted something that continually kept building up, only to climax and have a short outro/ending that was relativly calm and quiet, and i wanted the whole thing too... I guess the best way i can summerize it is that i wanted it to feel like listening too it made you imagine you were completely drugged up and as high as possible, and you're watching the people around you change and mutate into horrible creatures. Hopefully i've pulled it off correctly.

Enjoy!

I dunno if i posted this here before, but i did wanna share it, as i found it on an old Rewritable CD with an old demo for a track i never got the chance to finish, which was from 2008 (i may upload that later, for a laugh). It's a track i did back in 2009 on Music 2002, when i still had it installed (>> i really must reinstall it), for an older project thats hopefully going to be set back in motion... at some point, god willing.
This was one of my first forays into doing darker flavored works. I called this strict 'ambient' at the time, but its more a Noise/Shuffled Rhythm track with heavy Dark Ambient flavorings. ... And the use of a Rave pad. For some reason. It fits, but god knows what possed me to use it at the time. It was before my 'mixing samples together to create new sounds' days, i can tell that much by listening too it. Overall, i'm still happy with it, and it is still a good track, but i could probably do better.

I'm in a rush, so i've got to be breif, i'm afraid. This is one of three new pieces for a project i'm working on.

Another of the Hell Garden pieces, although this one is a lot more beat driven then the last one. This one is instead planned for usage in warped Mountain Pass' and Caves, so as well as the twisted, disjointed feel that the HG pieces are supposed to have, i wanted to still have them reflect the same 'adventurous' music i will be putting together for the normal area's. Instead of looped percussion and weird SFX, i instead carried over the same two synth chords- the only consistant sound in every single HG song- and implamented a pair of junked riffs from another song, and muddled about with them a bit, adding samples together to produce sounds that are subtly kind of off, and panned them left and right, on top of the drum-machine beat. The song is disjointed and a little 'off' in another way, although bare in mind, again, it was entirely intentional. You'll have too listen to it to notice it.

Enjoy!

I'm in a rush, so i've got to be breif, i'm afraid. This is one of three new pieces for a project i'm working on.

The project this is for, whilst technically an RPG, is not only planned to have a Day/Night system, but is planned to also feature area's of the game where either the perception of reality in the dreams of the cast, or reality itself, twists and distorts into a chaotic landscape thats been named 'Hell World' for the sake of simplicity. I'd say its inspired by the Otherworld portions of Silent Hill, and it partially is, but it works on an entirely different 'logic'. Although i can't really explain that right now, for obvious reasons. The 'Hell Garden' series of songs was kicked off to be the BGM used in these area's, and although some are going to be more upbeat/percussion driven, some will be more like this, and some will be strictly melodic, and they will all feature slightly different tunes, they will all share at least some elements with another Hell Garden song. This particuler piece is planned to be used in a warped version of a Laboratory, and portions of a warped hospital. I purposly went in the direction of something that, whilst melodic, is still damn near abrasive, and features disjointed riffs, looped percussion, and some run-of-the-mill cut'n paste effects that i did in Wavepad, to further give it an unearthly feel. I was directly aiming to go for something that sounded like 'panic' in audio form.

Enjoy!

I'm in a rush, so i've got to be breif, i'm afraid. This is one of three new pieces for a project i'm working on.

The entire idea behind this was comming up with something that sounded very poor quality, crackly, and downright odd on purpose, whilst invoking a feel i described to a friend as "Well, shit, there goes reality, tearing appart at the seems and making a general chaotic mess of things.", as the boss it's supposed to be used against is... Well, pretty much doing just that, tearing reality appart.
For once, i managed to get M2K's flip-flop nature in regards to when the phase effects worked as they should, or instead just added a layer of static over the riffs, as well as the general errors or clicks you got from fusing samples together, to my advantage. I also worked my "make certain samples loop in a way that winds up sounding odd and technically incorrect" habit into it in a few places, but it isn't the most triumphant example of it i've done.

Enjoy!

A track done for an RPG idea of mine, mean't to be played during especially difficult Boss Battles, that was slightly inspired by Yellow Magic Orchestra's "Rydeen". Not a whole lot else to say besides the fact that i'm seriously proud with how it came out sounding. This is easilly one of the best pieces i've done in a while.
And, hey, it's actually FINISHED for once!

A short demo i've only been working on for about 20 minutes or so. I've got a lot more work to do on it, and a laod of idea's i want to add into it, but i'm happy with what i;ve got so far, and i needed to present a quick demo to the person who's project this is intended for, so i figured that since i'd gone through the trouble of recording it for him, i could share it with you lot as well.
Enjoy!

Maybe one of these days i might have a finished song to upload, eh? ... Naaaaaaah, let's not ask for miracles.

Don't really have a lot of time to say anything other then the fact that this track is a bit of an experiment, and is still fairly unfinished. Enjoy!

Done for a contest being held by the staff behind the A-FUCKING-MAZING comic, Memoria, the latest (and last) in a long line of webcomics with a interconnecting plotline based on the japanese RPG series,  the Mother series. ... Or, to those not in the know, the series that those kids Ness and Lucas come from in Super Smash Bros.
You can check out the comic here (go on, it's more then worth it; http://memoria.valice.net/?p=77 )

The contest has the optional theme of being based on the events in a location the cast has wound up in around the current spate of updates, which is a small, backwater town wherein every townsperson is part of a cult that worships and bases their beliefs around a dragon (it... makes much more sense in context, i assure you), and constantly have their faces hidden behind stylized dragon masks, wear very dull, muted colours, and seem to be relentlessly happy. I wanted to craft a song for the town in question, and decided to go a 'no synth sounds' route; the only slight use of synth was in the edited choir samples, to give them an otherwordly, unnatural feel. I then mixed that up with some acoustic percussion, and even stuck in a faux "scratchy vinyl recording" section with an organ sound that needs but one insane 'holy' man/woman's speech to undercut the atmosphere i was going for.

Enjoy!

A demo cut of the song i'm going to stick at the end of Braindance. Started working on this one yesterday as a means of brightening up my mood (i wasn't depressed, per-say, but i was feeling a bit shitty); it worked wonders. Dunno where this track is going yet, but i've got the groundwork laid.

One of two tracks based around an older idea of mine' that is, that i create a soundtrack with a limited sample pool of which i am allowed only two deviations from per track, if absolutely warrented, to give it an old-school video-game-y feel. I'll make a recording of each of the individual samples at some point in the near future.
The actual idea the soundtrack'll be used for is, hopefully, an oldschool platformer/shooter in the vien of games like Pulseman or Megaman.

And yet one more track for the Mother 3.5 project, planned to be played in-game by the rock band featured in the story. This is still a bit rough around the edges, and the guitars aren't quite cut properly, making them sound like exactly what they are- jumbled up guitar samples. I need to work on making them flow a bit smoother, so they sound less like Hip Hop/Big Beat samples, and more natural.

Enjoy!

Another song done for the Mother 3.5 project i'm a part of, which i crafted for an icy area in the game. An especially cold icy area. Not much else to say say besides the fact that it's actually quite varied, and changes a fair bit before looping back to the begining.

Borrowing some elements from Chaos Breaks Minds, i was asked to do a remix of a song from Mother 3 for the Mother 3.5 project, by the director of the project himself. It's more or less in it's concept stages at the moment, and will be expanded upon.

A teaser for a project that i've only just started concepting. It intentionally has no tags.
I'm saying nothing, but this time, notg out of laziness or not wanting to bother you lot with the details, but as a means of keeping hush about the project. For a little while, at least. You'll have some idea once you take a listen, but you won't have the WHOLE idea.

Yeah, i'm not going to be posting anything for a bit, for a couple of reasons. One being that my 3.5mm-to-Male-Audio jack has broken, and another being i'm going through a serious spot of self doubt at the moment. I won't bother you with the details and i'll sum it up as "I think i'm crap and should really stop bothering because nobody likes what i'm doing". I go through these phases a lot, so it'll pass by eventually, but in the meantime, bear with me on that one. The aformentioned problems with recording, however, is the main issue here.

I will eventually get back to posting stuff when circumstances better themselves, but in the meantime, i'll be a bit dead around here. I'm not sure how long this temporary hiatus will be.

A Hard Synth Rock/Electronica piece i've been working on since yesterday, for one of my many projects. If anything, i'm most proud of the snare sound and the ending of the piece.
As the tag suggest on the file, if i ever get the skills required, this'll be accompanying an animation. I wouldn't hold your breath, though.

Another Quick-Post-And-Run job. I swear, i will eventually find the time to check out some of the new work you guys are posting, and reply to the comments i've been getting on mine!

For one of the many different projects i'm a part of, i wanted to try my hand at a piece with a disjointed beat, swapping between a drum machine beat and a few chopped up breaks- 50% custom, %50 library mix-n-match edits, acompanied by melodies, bass that either panned left right and centre, loop irregularly, or just plain glitched, to create a really surreal track that'll serve as the BGM to Character Prolouge's in the project it's a part of. Losely inspired by the tracks 'Fetus' and 'Neonatal' from Tekken 4 and Tekken 5, respectivly.

Enjoy!!

A track done for the Mother 3.5 project i'm a part of which, as always, can be read about here; http://forum.starmen.net/forum/Fan/Games/Morther-3-5/page/1/
I posted the demo of this a while back, which had remained practically unchanged and unedited until today; i just loaded it up, locked myself in my 'studio' (read: dingy little computer room where my old PS1 is located), went mad for about 2 hours, and this is the result; it's much finer tuned, much meatier, and less rough around the edges.

Once again, the drums are a combination of custom drumwork, and a sample from the Stone Roses track 'Fools Gold'.

This is the bad ending credits roll theme for a little fighting game project i've got going at the moment, that i might go into more detail about at some point; i might need help with the soundtrack.
I've planned the thing to have 3 different 'credits roll' songs depending on which character you played as (due to where exactly they stood in the conflict of the story), or if you lost/beat a certain character with another certain character. This one is supposed to play if you beat the game with one of the evil characters, or lose against the final boss with specific characters.
I wanted something that was more depressing and foreboding then downright "HOLY SHIT GUYS THIS IS ALL EVIL", yet still had a steady beat/bass to carry the piece along.

Video Game/Film Soundtracks / Population: Zero [GAME]

The first (and currently only) fight BGM's for a little fighting game project i've got going at the moment, that i might go into more detail about at some point; i might need help with the soundtrack.
I wanted something that was dually chaotic yet structured; so i settled for chords and BG riff's that stay roughly consistant, one little riff to be the tracks 'repeating tune', and then went mad with a number of different solo's. Hopefully the effect comes off as i desired.

Enjoy!

One of 3 introductory themes for a little fighting game project i've got going at the moment, that i might go into more detail about at some point; i might need help with the soundtrack.
For this one, i wanted to go with a song that, even without context, lyrics, or anything like that, was able to tell a story, without having a clear begining or ending.

As i said in another thread, i'm going to have to be brief, as i'm in a rush. I haven't even tagged this file yet!

I bought a couple of Yellow Magic Orchestra albums a couple of weeks ago, and was hooked almost immidietly. With my love of Synthpop and Electro pop, i was bound too. Not long after, i started working on a song inspited by, but not a direct copy of their sort of sound. This is the demo thus-far.

Enjoy!

Wasn't really sure where else to put this, so if it's in the wrong area, i apologise .__.

But yeah. This isn't a wangsty "bawww" fest about how i suck or whatever, i just figured i'd inform you that i might stop posting tracks on here, rather then simply dropping off the face of the earth and leaving the one-or-two posters that do take a listen hanging. There doesn't seem much point when they're largely ignored; they're just a waste of space that way, really, and the last thing i want is to take up space when there are other artists worth listening too on here. I'll still be around, mind you, enjoying the works uploaded by other users, commenting on them and whatnot; i simply might not post my own stuff here anymore, is all. I'm still um-ing and ah-ing about it at the moment.

A track that took me about an hour and a bit to do, inspired purely by a tangent an artist i really admire- DiGi Valentine- went on in the description of one of his tracks. At the moment, it's only an instrumental, but with any luck, the artist i mentioned is planning to rap over it when things are a little less hectic his end of things.
Just for the record, this track was done purely for a laugh.

Enjoy!

A demo of another new track i only just started work on today, for my album. Not a whole lot else to say.

The melody sample is an edited sample from Nobuyoshi Sano's "Had Gripped", which you can hear here;

Oh GOD this one gave me hell. Repeated M2K crashes, samples screwing up, thus requiring re-mixing and whatnot, and that Wah Clav + Vari Hit 1 solo loop at the end? AAAAAARGH. I'm going to be having PTSD flashbacks for a while, thanks to that blasted solo and how long it took me to get it to match the tune i had in my head. Still, it was worth it. Anything i've already said about the track can be re-read in the Demo-version's thread, i've got nothing more to sleep. I just want to ge tot posting this blasted track so i can move onto something else after dedicating a good half of my morning too it and the problems that came with it, hahaha!

Enjoy! I'll edit this later on, if i can think of anything to add (when i have more time to add it)

Just a rough, quick demo this time around, just to tantelize your tastebuds a bit. It's something that's going to be in the Mother 3.5 project i'm a part of, when it's finished. It's one of the first in a line of songs that purposfully uses a sampled beat as a reference, rather then due to a lack of creativity, general laziness, or just for the sake of it.
And seeing as it's not the usual Funky Drummer/Amen Break sample (though those will come in due time), if anyone can tell me where the central drum sample comes from- in spite of the fact that i've added in a couple of layers of custom percussion to add a lil' meat to the beat (albiet they're panned to the side and a bit quieter then the sample, on purpose)- then if i had a hat, it would be off to you. XD

House/disco / [DANCE] Braindance

And here we go. The first proper, finished track on the album (next to 2902, which was moved to this Album), and it's the titular track, too. This is one big love letter to the tracks i used to hear all the time on my dad's Godskitchen and Ministry of Sound albums (many of which i still listen to), and Dance/Techno as a whole. And i'm insanely proud of it to boot. It's easilly one of the best works i've done in a long, long time.

I wanted something that had a certain 'swing' too it, henceforth the heavy use of a lot of Delays in the beats, and the jumpy background riff that kicks of the track, and makes up one of the 3 parts of the songs main melody. Speaking of the melody, i was going for a heavilly digital sound overall, mixing in some classic strings, and "mid song" (i use the term losely) breakdown, featuring a different synth pattern, a different bass, heavier, more Big-Beat styled drums, and a filtered guitar loop.

I also want to mention, this is one of the quickest songs i've done, sort of; i started the demo, which featured just the intro/first chorus one day, they set it aside for a while, unsure of where to go with it. After recording the demos, i fired up the track again, sat down, and the rest of the song just flowed out of me; i knew exactly how i wanted it to sound, how i wanted to structure it, and how i wanted everything to be mixed. It took about an hour and a half in total. That's one of the reasons i'm so proud of it.

At this point, i can only hope you enjoy listening to it as much as i did making it!

A track for the album i'm currently working on, 'Braindance'. This track, however, might be scrapped. I wanted it to have tounge-in-cheek lyrics in regards to the titular dance, which is supposed to be a deadly weapon if used in combat (essentially, its supposed to be nothing more then a silly track with bullshit lyrics, all in the name of fun), and i was going to have a mate of mine record a Guitar Solo for it, as well. There's just one problem. I deleted the original file of this song, and unfortunately, i did so BEFORE i realised what had happened in regards to the recording volume going out of whack. Hence, the heavier kicks are distorted, ruining the whole thing. It's a real shame, 'cus i rather liked this song as well. Still, it happens. I'm more or less posting this just so you can get a good idea of "what might have been".

Enjoy!

A early demo track for the album i'm currently working on, 'Braindance'. Be warned, the recording volume was waaaaay off on most of these demos, so there's a touch of distortion where there shouldn't be any. I'm not sure how it happened, but i have since fixed the problem.

Those of you that grabbed "This is Who i Am" (it's in the Album sections, if you haven't!) will remember it had the original recording of a track called Red Hot Ice Box, a song i (sadly) lost the file too, before i had a chance to edit it and re-record it in better quality. This song is something of a "sequal song" to it, utilising a different style (a mix of Techno and my own style, which i just refer to as 'Noise'), but keeping some of the same elements (some of the samples and techniques; like using the 'wannadance' tom sample as a bassline).

A re-hash of a much older, more rock-oriented song, with the guitars removed and more focus put on the repeating synthy riff. Nothing much. It's still an early concept.

Not content with a Gorillaz cover alone, i decided the album really needed a track influenced by the STYLE of Gorillaz. It sounds sort of like a mix of "Rhinestone Eyes" and "Kids with Guns" stylistically. Maybe a touch of "Clint Eastwood", but only a smidge.
This is one of the few tracks on the album where i've not only got an idea of what i want the lyrics to be about, but i actually have something written down, too. Essentially, the thing is supposed to use Zombies as a metaphor for people going about their daily, boring lives, working their unbearable 9-to-5-ers, never stopping to say hi, and never acomplishing their dreams, content to waste their lives away drearilly. I know, i'm so fucking DEEP that you can practically dive into me. :b

It was more then likely one track on the album would turn out to be a Big Beat track, and, unsurprisingly, it was one of the first i worked on. In some ways i suppose you could call this a sort-of tribute to Fatbom Slim. A sort of mix of the "Better Living through Chemistry" days and the "Palookaville" days, in some ways.

I'm not going to lie, this is a really early concept, and nothing more then a tastebud tantelizer. I'm a huge fan of Gorillaz, and have been since i was fairly young, so it was only natural i'd do a ReMix/Cover of one of their tracks eventually. I just didn't expect it to be a Synthpop cover of Feel Good Inc. XD;;

This is a really rough pitch of one of the synthpop tracks on the album; a tribute to a lot of the music from the 80s, with a touch of modern flair. In spite of being born a decade too late for it, i'm a huge fan of the post-punk, new-wave/synthpop style of music, and have started trying to adapt a style of my own that sounds similar to the music that came out of bands like Duran Duran, The Human League, the Thompson Twins, Eurythmics, etc.

Experimental/Other / 2902 -Instrumental-
May 26, 2010, 01:58:16 AM
Possibly one of the best peices i've done in a long time, i started work on this as a little aside song inspired by, and dedicated to the creators of a fantastic webcomic series named Harmony, which by this point has spawned a number of spinoffs and continuations, and has been an absolutely vital source of inspiration in a time when i was stuck in a bit of creative draught. Slowly and slowly it's begining to turn into an entire album project that, when i get some spare time, i hope to be able to work on.

The part of the comic that really got me inspired was a short segment named the White Ship story, which manages to get the balance just right between tragic and hopeful, and is considerablly well-written, given it's an expansion of an otherwise not-very-much-touched upon detail in the videogame series the Webcomic is based around. With that thought process in mind, i try to craft a very electronic sounding track with a hopeful sound, subtly spiced with an air of tradegy. I probebly ballsed it up, but hey, never hurts to try, am i right? 8D

Enjoy!

Oh, and before i forget, a link to a forum thread on the comic; http://forum.starmen.net/forum/Fan/Forum/COMIC-M2-Harmony/page/1/

Downtempo / Dawn of a New Age
May 01, 2010, 06:09:46 PM
A track for a project of mine. I'll spare you the details, 'cus i don't really think anyone's all that interested.

I was trying to go for something that sounded bittersweet, that had an air of everything being all over, yet at the same time remaining hopeful about things yet to come. If i can be all 'deep' with you for a sec, that is.

And, no, i DON'T have a problem with people using the library riffs, if they're put to good use. I occasionally use snippets of beats from M2K's library's and fuck about the samples, mixing them in with my own beats, and sometimes i just take a beat from the library and do minimal editing to it, like i did here. There's nothing wrong with it if it's put to good use.
Besides, "S L O W Beat" is fuckin' sweet. *shot*

I plan to add lyrics to this, and have it sung by a mate of mine, and myself. Maybe. We'll see how things go.

Just a quick post today. This is an old track of mine that i, sadly, lost the file for. Which is a shame, because this is, for all intents and purposes, a demo, as well as a poor quality recording. None the less, it should prove an interesting curiosity for some of you.
That, and it wasn't a total loss; the string melody that comes in at 04:44 was used elsewhere. But i digress.

And, for the record, it's a dual remix of the songs below, with a touch of some original elements, weather it's obvious or not (and it probebly isn't, seeing i took liberties and added the aformentioned original touches);

Enjoy!

As a little bonus, i'm posting one of the tracks on my first "album" (More a compilation of songs i consider B-Sides, a few of which have already been posted, but go under different names), "This is Who i Am".

This is acctually a ReMix of a song a close friend of mine had made using Garageband, a tounge-in-cheek ditty called Do It Yourself Porno music. It was part of a little album she'd thrown together, and had acctually sent to me via the mail on my last birthday. I decided to return the favour by not only finally finishing This is Who i Am (even if i had to throw on tracks that had no proper home, like Chilling Air, Dead Line, and D.I.Y P.I.'s, as just 3 examples), but ReMixing a song from her album, and sticking it on mine as the cherry on top, if you will. I decided to go for something Chemical Brothers/Fatboy Slim-esque, seeing as they've both had massive influences on my musical style over the years. I also added in claps and crowd noises to give it a sort-of "live" feel, purely for the sake of novelty. And the overall cheesiness of it all.

Sadly, i didn't notice i hadn't "fixed" the acoustic bass to remove the pop's and clicks until AFTER i'd recorded the file, and deleted the original. My slip up.
Also, as for why it's named "Christopher Walken's Weapon of Choice Mix", listen out for an instrument featuring in both the original and the ReMix. If you're internet savy or have seen a certain Saturday Night Live skit, you'll get it. It also ties in with the fact that the ReMix was Fatboy Slim-esque in nature, which i'm posetive a couple of you'll get, at least.

Because i'm nice, i included the original song, as well, just so you get to know what source material i was working with.

It's short, sweet, not massivly technical. nor does it push the boundries; this was more or less a test to see just how well writing a number of samples onto a rewriteable CD would work, as M2K can be a bit quirky with rewritables, and i've had problems with them in the past. Thankfully, i lucked out, and it worked like a charm.

The song is acctually a slightly twisted remix of a song used in the freeware indie game, Yume Nikki (meaning Drwam Diary), which can be found in the youtube link below. It acctually samples the original track, mixing in a number of SFX and Vocals, including some found within M2K's library, and some i collected from the web, set to a slow beat. This track is acctually intended to be part of an ongoing project wherein i plan to remix a number of tracks from the game into an album, purely because i absolutely adore the game, from it's open-ended nature and it's bizzare characters to it's music which, whilst all generally being very short loops (and some being simply one droning note), which is a little dissapointing, never the less manages to fit the games atmosphere to a T, and can be either haunting and beautiful, or downright suspenceful.

I should note that the track also incorperates snippets of a little melody that can acctually be played by the lead character on one of the games items- or "effects"- a flute. You can hear some of the little snippets of melody that you can play on the flute at the end of the second video, which also provides a couple of short examples of some of the music the game has to offer including one of my favorite BGM's in the game; the music that plays in the room in which you get the flute. Oh, sure, it's a 8-Bit chiptune sounding track, but it is never the less one of the most memorable songs in the game. And another song i plan to ReMix sometime in the future.

In any case, you've heard enough of me waffling and gushing about a game i love that i get the feeling nobody else really will; Enjoy!

One of my first tracks to really use outside samples. You probebly won't notice them, as they're mostly sound effects (screeching ghostlike ones, including one that i applied mass amounts of pitch shifting too), but there's a synth sample i used that's fairly lo-fi that kicks in around halfway through the song (!:34)

The first of 3 tracks done for a fangame being developed based on the Mother/Earthbound series, Mother 3.5, which you can read about here: http://forum.starmen.net/forum/Fan/Games/Morther-3-5
Do it, it is DEFINETLY worth your time!

This... Well, i don't want to blow my own horn, but i reckon this is probebly the best peice i've done in a very, very long time. Whilst i won't lie it can be very, VERY overrated (ESPECIALLY if your games name contains the words 'Final' and 'Fantasy'), i love me some dramatic orchestral music. Especially in videogames. It is done a LITTLE to often in some games, but quite a few get the balance just right. One such game is Mother 3, the game in which Mother 3.5 is (oobviously) a continuation of, so i felt it was only right that i do a few orchestral peices for the game. That, and that was my briefing for this track.
This song plays for one of the bosses around about halfway through the game. Just before you fight this boss, it... Well, let's just say it "cuts something short" for one of the cast members. And the combination of HOW that "cutting short" is done and to which cast member makes it an absolutely painful player punch. Which only makes me love the direction of Mother 3.5 in a platonic fashion even more, because it's something i would have done myself. >D
In any case, he wanted a peice that combined feelings of pure horror and heart-wrenching sorrow. I like to think i delivered it in spades. I'm so insanely proud of this it's not even funny, especially as the only element that isn't acoustic is the synth sample which, if i remember right, is a combination of Kraft String and Sweet Square. I know it definetly featured the latter.
My only regrets? that the "Terror" movement (the part that comes after the Organ + Synth only section) wasn't more "Powerful" (I wouldn't have been happy with anything else i tried unless i added more strings. And by this point i was capping the memory limit), and that i had access to better Cymbal and Bell samples. But, hey, beggers can't be chosers.

Wanna know what was going through my head? I can't say. What i can say is this song works on one thing, and one thing only: Rule of Scary. Read more about that here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RuleOfScary
The demented organ? Rule of Scary. The equally demented Sample Hold riff? Rule of Scary. The INSANE edits of the vocal samples? Rule of... you get the idea. About the only thing that wasn't rule of scary was the "Broken Beat" that pops up occasionally. I'm very so-so about this one, but it came out ok, i guess.

I did this peice originally as a way to apologise to the game's direction for producing nothing for a while, due to a number of reasons. It's based on an older song of mine which used the Organ sample, and the same guitar sample. Which is i remember right is a library riff i heavilly edited by first changing the recording quality to 11hz, then applying a Minor effect to all of the notes... Anyway.
I was going for something that sounded trippy and dreamlike, but not in the pleasent sense. After all, this is a boss song. However, it isn't so much supposed to be 'scary' as it is 'just palin weird'. Hopefully i pulled off the effect just right.

Note that the filename is the songs old name.

Downtempo / Dead Line
December 21, 2009, 03:47:26 PM
A Track that i did for a laugh, more then anything. It's a "wolud be" peice of BGM for a little series of mine called "Fielding Investigation Unit: Murder Outbreak", which is a mix between a cheesy Detective Series, a Paranormal Investigation series, and some psychological Horror thrown in for good measure.

The last of the F.I.U tracks for now, this is the peice of music that'd play at bog standard crime scene investigations if F.I.U where an animated series. Moreso as one or more of the characters discovers vital evidence and starts piecing everything together.
Even though i did tag this as Hip Hop, it is more downtempo, in retrospect. And i am extremely proud of how it came out, even with it's simplicity. I reckon that's probebly the catchiest bassline i've ever done. And i love the effect applied to the "sample hold" loop acctually makes it fit in with the timing of the beat perfectly.

Tying in with the more supernatural/horrific side of the series, this is a track that, where F.I.U an animated series, would play at crime scenes with unexplainable or eerie elements involved, or places speculated to be haunted. This song is notable because one of the two different drumloops is comprised entirely of mixed-together "vocal" samples. What can i say, some of the Vocal Kicks, Snares, Etc. are acctually quite awesome sounding.

Downtempo / Million (Christmas Contest entry)
December 17, 2009, 09:28:52 AM
I did post this in the main thread, but i felt like kicing off a thread for this in case someone missed it.

Rather then going for the typical christmas Shlock, i went for something that sounded wintery to me. I also wanted to experiment with vocal samples, so i picked one that, in context, acctually fits the 'Christmas theme' quite well, if you think of stars as a symbol of hope. The overall result is something that almost sounds like a Fatboy slim song, which wasn'ty acctually intended, but is a nice bonus. I also included a falsified 'Sampled 'n Chopped' piano riff, 'cus i have a facination with chopped loops.
I'd say more, but i'm at school at the moment, and need to be somewhere shortly, so i'm in a rush. ^^;

Enjoy!

Video Game/Film Soundtracks / Better, Stronger [UNUSED]

And now, onto the "Chaos: A Love Story" soundtrack. Chaos is a game being developed by a friend of mine for his game design class. He asked if i could do the soundtrack for him. And, well, how could i say no?

This was going to be the final battle song for Floyd. But it doesn't really work... It's a Melodic D'nB/Techno track that takes a little too long to build up for a platformer boss fight. It's probebly better for an RPG, or something. Instead, i'm allowing my friend to 'borrow' the final battle track used for Beyond Human.

Enjoy!

I... have no idea. AGAIN. This is a platforming game, yet i create a boss song that sounds like a boss track from a early-to-mid-90s SHUMP. XD Eh. It works. The title, by the way, refers to the fact that the type of boss you fight with this song playing too are colour-co-ordinated robots of some kind. I know, i know, terrible. I have a facination with horrible puns, damnit. XD
It's one of the first times i tried out in-song tempo changes. I think it came out quite well.

I don't THINK i've uploaded this one before... But if i have, i apologise. It's a song i WAS going to use for something of my own, but it better suited Chaos, so i donated it to the project. It's a mix of Techno and Orchestral music where, i won't lie, the main focus is the beat, rather then the melody.

Floyd, for the record, is the games main villain.

I... honestly don't know. XD Stage 4 is supposed to be Floyd's base after it's grounded. For some reason i made an ultra cheesy, early-dance-music sounding peice to go along with it. But i do like it.

If the title confounds and confuses you, then i'll explain. Mirelle is the games main character. She is female. The level this song is for is a mountain, and whilst i think by this point they've seperated, there's a side character that is Mirelle's bodygaurd. And, is of course, male. Just think about it for a minute.

I was going to add some rockin' guitars to this, but i couldn't find anything that worked. So i just went with different organ samples to acompany the rock-styled drums and the repeated pan flute motif. It came out really well, i reckon.

The tutorial level of the game takes place in the middle of a Tundra. And seeing as it's apparently very quick and simple, i figured i'd shoot for a simple song. I'm quite proud of this, if only for the unusual rhythm when the drums kick in and the percussion stops. And the use of a metallic hit in place of a hi-hat or an open hat.

I should also warn you; this is one of the projects where my song titles become either massivly 'punny', a play on words, or... Just weird. XD It's something of a 'theme' of mine.

I figured i'd upload the rest of the Beyond Human OST. Or, what i have of it, so far. Then i'll upload a soundtrack i've been working on for a friend. So that should tantalize your tastebuds before i rifle through everything ELSE i need to upload here. XD

Or, rather; the Stage Complete Theme, the Continue Screen theme, the High Score/Name Entry theme, and the Game Over theme. It seemed utterly pointless to upload them all into seperate threads.

No, i couldn't resist the title of the Stage Complete theme. Yes, Tony is the name of the main character. No, i couldn't resist using Orchestra Hit. No, i couldn't resist adding the deliciously cheesy laugh to Beyond the Grave. Yes, i'm aware Legend is spelt wrong in Legend's filename.

If you're confused by the name 'Death By...', then i'll explain it; When you lose all of your lives, but still have continues remaining, then i plan for there to be a number of continue screens- each one selected at random- which Depict Tony in a number of deathtraps. Tied to a chair whilst the room fills up with water, tied to the floor whilst the cieling lowers, tied to a table whilst a buzzsaw lowers (because if Ninja Gaiden can do it, so can i!), etc. etc. The screen fades to red after the countdown ends, which is JUST as the trap is about to do the poor little guy in. Because i am a heartless bastard and it's the best way to keep the players playing. XD

BONUS: You lucky people get to hear a song that was acctually done by a friend of mine (that is a killer piano player and damn good at using fruity loops; i was the guy that introduced her to M2K) that, sadly, didn't have a home; i decided to 'adopt' it and put it into Beyond Human. She was pleased with that. But, i must stress, i had NO INVOLVEMENT in this songs creation AT ALL.

I guess you could call this the games 'Main Theme Song', seeing as it does pop up in a number of places. The first file is, of course, the Introduction Sequence version of the song, the second is the simpler Title Screen version. I guess i was aiming for something that pulled people in with the promise of action, adventure, possibly a bit of mystery. And something that wasn't exactly HAPPY, but nor was it sad.

The 'full' version of A Vicious Battle, this is set to play with the last confrontation between the robed figure and the game's Hero... after the robed figures identity has been revealed. Now, obviously, i can't explain that plot thread without not only spoiling the game, but acctually spoiling a very large chunk of the games story (cliche'd as it is; hey, it's a love letter to 90s platflomers, what did you expect? XD); but i do acknowlage the song's title sort of gives it away.

Since i'm sure the file probebly won't fit within the memory limitations, i uploaded it to newgrounds; you can download it there.

BONUS: You do get an EARLY DEMO of this song that was made quite a while back; before i got ahold of the audio jack and was still recording with a microphone.

Throughout the game, you will encounter a robed figure either at the end of the first 'Zone' of an Area, before the main boss of the Area, or as the acctual boss of the area itself. He has a lot of moves similar to the main characters, and is equally as fast and strong to boot. So i whipped up this quick little theme with which you fight him too. Albiet it's acctually an arrangement of the song used for the final confronation with said robed figure...

Another song very similar to Sweeping Shadows. As in, it's a simple song that's put to a fairly quick section of a level and doesn't vary itself an awful lot, and is planned to have a far more varied remix made of it. This time, though, rather then a cave, this level takes place in the Seaside Town before it. The first section of which is acctually on said Seaside Town's famous beachfront. Famous for the ruins of the previous bay that was there, and many untraceable ones... That look suspiciously modern to be 'ancient ruins'. It's supposed to be the first sign that things maybe aren't all as well as they seemed. (Well, in spite of the fact that freakin' Robots are attacking in what the characters believe is 1992, but, hey.)

I can remember this song was acctually inspired by another in some respects... But i've forgotten which. If i do remember, i'll post a link to it.

One of earlier levels in the game is set inside a cave. The second half of which is a brightly illuminated mining operation that's continuing ti take place- even though there's nobody else in sight. Besides the enemies, of course.
The first half of the cave however, is a typical dark, gloomy, damp, cold, and creature infested hellhole. Thankfully, it isn't a brilliantly long level. Or, at least, it's not planned that way. So, i didn't want to do much with this song. It's really just a simple-ish loop made with a simple-ish beat (that almost sounds sampled at some points), with a dark, yet smooth pad, there is some bass here and there (as well as a stringe arrangement of the bass), and ambient effects, including animal noises. (One of the times those animal samples do come in use for me). These features constantly fade in and out inbetween different sections.

The second variation of this song, when i get around to doing it, should be more exciting. Never the less, Enjoy!

This is the song that is supposed to play for one of the last area's of the game; A completely derilict and destroyed city that stretches as far as the eye can see. And it isn't fresh carnage, either; there's moss, mold, cobwebs and dust all over the place, and half of whats left is severly rotten. So i tried to give it an odd mix of, on the one hand, hopelessness, yet at the same time, the drive to continue fighting. I have no idea if i pulled it off, but i like the result regardless. This is also one of the first times i've had to use "Acid Two" as an alarm noise, due to M2K not acctually having one. It's not quite as refined as it is in The Weapon which will End the World, but it gets the job done. And not to sound egotistical; but i love the way the drums came out. Although you can only really hear it at one point in the song, they've got a very disjointed and 'rough' feel to them.

Enjoy!

GOD i need to post here more often then i do.

Just figured i'd upload the latest track done for a little project of my own, Beyond Human; a fun little platformer where a hilariously overpowered blond haired child with a plank-with-a-nail-in-it who can run at stupidly fast speeds and punch through metal if he so desires goes off to save the world from an opressive hive mind of machines called The Nation that not only razed his hometown, but may have acctually already done far worse to the rest of the world.
... No, seriously. That's the plot. The BASICS of the plot.

This song is the final boss song. I obviously can't say too much about the climaxing moments of the game, but what i can tell you is this; the final boss is a gargantuan super weapon that is (mostly) powered by living people. Thus, i felt the song should be a mix of electronica, and some good ol' dramatic orchestral strings with a tune made out of some nice 'n earthal bell toll's for good measure. This is the result. Best work i've done in a while, i reckon.

You can check it out via youtube before downloading if you wish;

Relates to the same project as "Endless".

I wanted to experiment one day whilst i was, admitedly, a little bit tipsy. I'd also been listening to a fair bit of Aphex Twin that day, so i wouldn't rule out that this peice was partly inspired, at least in it's drums, by Aphex Twin.

The idea was to create a song that was Rhythmic, but in a unusual way. And at the same time took both the aspects of frantic and calm and see how they balance each other out and create something that constantly jumps between both. I also wanted what little melody i was using to sound unusual. Maybe even slightly disturbing. But not in a traditonal, broken, "grungy hardsynth" fashion. The song also uses two different basslines, although they're (purposly, as i intended for them to blend to with the beat more then the usual bass) a little hard to hear at times.
It all makes sense when you consider it's going to be used for a battle against a partially biological, partially machine creature. I figured, given the theme, it was natural to have even the music represent the combination of two things that just shouldn't go together, but tried going about it in a way that was listanable.

Enjoy!

Even though i still have a ton of crap i need to post, i figured i'd settle for the 3 most recently recorded peices i've done for this evening.

For those of you that guessed the origins of my avatar, it should come as bugger all suprise that i'm a fan of the MOTHER series. Or, if you're clueless, "that one series that those two kids Ness and Lucas in Smash Bros. come from". It should also come as no suprised that i'm running two fan-based projects related to it, as well as being chosen as the composer of another person's project over at the Starmen.net forums. But that's for another time...

I've had the story worked out for both projects for the longest time, but due to it's connections with the third game in the series, i went with doing this song first. At the time i started composing i'd not long finished a watching a Playthrough of the game and the ending still stuck with me, so i was in the right mood. Then, i went on Hiatus for a long time, working on other songs, but outright refusing to work on this one. Why? Hard to believe as it may be, but it was acctually emotionally draining to do so. It might be harder to understand if you don't really know the context, but i'd be here all day explaining, and i'm not entirely sure if anyone would really be interested, heh.
About... i think 3 months later, i finally went back to it. And you can sort of tell; the second half is slightly different then the first.

The whole idea with this song was to combine elements of both fear and sadness and have them play out together, but, naturally, Sadness ended up taking the drivers seat with this one. Not that that's a bad thing. I ultimately decided that this ought to be as sad as i could possibly make it, and went all out to make sure that was the case. I'd like to say i managed that quite well, but i'd need an outside opinion.

I think it's worth mentioning that the reason the two piano riff's might seem like different melodies for different songs, it's because one of the piano sections is a reccuring 'theme' for one of the Antagonist characters, so it felt only right that it should turn up here, as well.

Enjoy.
