Thanks Bliss and Dutch, appreciate the feedback.

Has a great beat to it and I like the panning melodies. The slight change in tone at 2:35 was nice, went from cheerful to trippy. Cool percussion at 4:25. Has a nice original sound to it. Cool work.

Cool beat Casper.

Has a nice gritty tone to it, and the dude spitting over the beat has a nice flow.

Would be cool to hear some more of your hiphop beats if you've done more.

Awesome consolation prize! When it was first mentioned I just thought it would be a CD with about 10 or 15 CoLD SToRAGE tracks, which would have been nice. But getting all your released albums is great! Really look forward to getting this.

Thanks again!

lol yes it was(don't worry, your not trippin :D), I mentioned that and my reasons for doing it again at the begining of my initial post of this thread. Like everthing else that was posted after March 3rd until the site crash months ago, it got lost.

I really think that anyone here who wants to publish and release and album should definitely give it a shoot, even if you don't think it will work out the way you want it to. Boomkat and others mentioned that were successful enjoyed making music and took the initiative to do what they could to get their music heard and it worked out for them. Even Ex-TIMGUL member Quade77's chart topping success a few months ago is a good example of what can happen when you get your music out there and put in the work to build a fan base. All you have to do is look where you can find a good audience for your music, market to them, release your album, and see where it goes from there. And who knows, maybe the works that you release could help to get you a record deal in the future.

You just never know until you try...

Great beginning, the cool beat and the pad arrangement reminds me of work Yuzo Koshiro did on the first Streets of Rage Soundtrack. Cool Production.

Nice chilled out track. Like the melodies and great beat, nice use of the vocal percussions. I never really use them myself, but after listening to them in this track and how great they sound I'll give them a try the next time I load up Generator.

What quality did you load the vocal percussions at for this?

Congratulations to the winners DJ Omnimaga and Master Dutch, you guys deserve it.
Everyone did a great job in the competition and it was a pleasure and a lot of fun to take part in it. Big Thanks to CoLD SToRAGE and Sacred Virgo for putting it together, hopefully there will be more competitions to come.

The group is called Boomkat.

(I posted this info months ago before the site crash and decided to post it again because I think it really is an inspiring story of how an MTV Music Generator user found success with the help of the game.)

For those who don't know, Boomkat is an electronic and pop music duo, with brother-and-sister Kellin and Taryn Manning. Kellin writes and creates the music and Taryn is the singer, she is also an actress that has starred in such movies as "Hustle and Flow". Kellin used MTV Music Generator to help get the group off the ground using it to create more than a few songs for what would later become their first commercial album back in 2003.

Here is an article where Kellin and representitves from MTV and Codemasters talk about the success of the group due partly to the help of MTV Music Generator.

Here is an interview where Kellin and Taryn talk with OPM about MTV Music Generator and making music.

Heres a music video of one of their songs off their debut album.

Thanks DJ Droppin, really glad you liked it. I've had a chance to listen to all the entries and there are a lot of great tunes in the competition album. The Bandcamp page for the album was put together great. And for those who don't know how to get to the bandcamp page to download the Holiday Competition Album, heres another link: http://timgulxmas2009.bandcamp.com/

Now, on to commenting on the rest of the tracks on the album...

First off, Great theme for the competition that was created by CoLD SToRAGE.  Great holiday tune with great melodies and a has a nice Christmas feel to it that sets up wonderfully for the rest of the album.

DJ Omnimaga- Magic Hardcore: Wonderful melodies and effects. Really like the cheerful sound of this track, and its nice to hear some new work from DJ Omni again, hopefully its not the last.

Master Dutch - smoothy: Very relaxing track. Like the beat and the sampling is well done.

Not a Number - Parabola: Original intro, and then the cool beat and pads kick in and  takes you on a very enjoyable ride. Great melodies and drum arrangments.

J-MACHine - Great vocals awesome beats, lovely pads and melodies as well. Really like the extended version that you have on the album, noticed the one I downloaded here wasn't quite as long.

Nakamura - The Last Goodbye: Great trance song. Wonderful pads throughout it, and I just really enjoyed the carefree sound of this track.

Good luck to all!

Welcome onionmaster :).

Glad to hear that you were able to get it working again on Vista, I ran into some of the same problems as you did when I first tried to install mine too.

Hope to hear some music from you soon.

Great pads, really dug the piano arrangements and beats. Was not prepared for the dark and sadistic sounding twist in tone but I thought it cool, and then it switches back to the slightly brighter side again with the bells even more noticable this time around. Great ending, kinda eerie and dark.

Another great track from you, nice production.

Was able to barely finish a track for the competition deadline(not quite 100%, but still finished for the most part). Got it recorded and ready at the eleventh hour. Had a hard time finding free time to work on it in my busy schedule, but glad I was able to finish it to enter in the contest. And now that I got it finished and have time, I can finally listen to the other entries, which I look forward to commenting on. I'll post the song in its own individual topic later.

Heres my Entry - 'Season of Solace'
