Lost songs (MUSIC/MTVMG) / Re: The Slightest Hope
March 05, 2009, 12:29:42 AM
Y'know, I wanted to write video game music when I was a kid. Who knows where I could have been had Music Generator been released when I was 9 instead of 19?

Lost songs (MUSIC/MTVMG) / The Slightest Hope

I don't know why, but some of the magic between Music Generator for PC and I has just plain vanished since I took a break - but there's always that slight hope that I'll find that spark that ignited my creative energies back then.

How are you, Gorex?

I'm fine, thanks for asking! How are you? :)

Willy Wonka and the Weapons Factory is quite possibly the coolest song name I've ever heard. Seriously.  :D

Awesome work man, makes me want to dig out the old PS1 and relive some memories...

This is an awesome song. It brings back memories of the old Metroid games really, with a tight, claustrophobic feeling that makes you well aware that there's only one way to go - down. Further in the song the garbled guitars in the background start to get even more foreboding, the sense of impending doom it creates is excellent. Incredible work!

Thanks for all the comments! And that thing at :06? That'd be Chupacabra, the goat sucker! It's our favorite monster, lol

Thanks for the comments, guys! I'm in talks with my buddy for a second video, but he's been kind of busy lately... Maybe I need to learn how to use Movie Maker, lol.

Rock/Metal/Pop / A Rock Tribute to... Muffins?
February 27, 2009, 07:28:41 PM
My buddy and I teamed up to bring the world a tribute to one of my favorite foods - muffins! I made the music on MTV Music Generator for PC, while he abused Windows Movie Maker to make the video. Yes that is my voice, yes that is me in the beginning of the video, and my buddy shows up in it too, most notably alongside a Ninja Turtle in one of his rare childhood pics. Posted almost a year ago on YT, made even longer ago, and my wife is still wondering what's wrong with us.

Lost songs (MUSIC/MTVMG) / So Far, So Good

This one was fun. I was playing around with some premade riffs and threw in some custom ones and this is what plopped out. I call it "So Far, So Good".

My copy started to refuse saves and loads and I reinstalled it. After it promptly exploded, saves and loads were back. Unfortunately without a disk I guess that's not exactly the easiest option to fix it...

Oh yeah. Sometimes it crashes when saving and loading, sometimes it won't let me load samples after a while of use, sometimes it'll give me that Generator clicky noise in .wavs that I make with it (especially at the beginning of songs), and that's even getting around that nasty Direct X 7 search that made me think the game didn't install correctly (found out just to ignore it, the game plays anyway if you tell it to from the start menu).

It's definitely a lot buggier than the PS1 version was, that's for sure.

It's comments like this that are gonna' keep me motivated to pump out more. Thanks guys, you have no idea how much I appreciate your feedback.  :)

Also, for Fear 2 Stop, I use MTV Music Generator for PC.

Thanks for your input! Glad you like it! And yeah, you're right about those stabs at the end. I'll lower the volume on them just a tad and see how that sounds...

MUSIC series discussion / Re: A question about metal.
February 23, 2009, 04:16:12 PM
Thanks JCW and Shellshaka, as you can see I'm certainly glad to be here.

I have a set of drums that I use(d) regularly that consisted of gated for the kick, chunky for snare, classic crash cymbals, whatever hats I find appropriate, and dry for the toms. I rarely ever used anything else, but like I said before monster is growing on me. Sad to say I haven't experimented with much anything else, I'm a stubborn guy that likes familiarity in some ways. Besides, it's nice to have a sound that identifies your work and what you're all about if you ask me.

Lost songs (MUSIC/MTVMG) / Found a CD of My Old Stuff 2

Second part of the old stuff, hope you guys like it!

Couple of notes: Flight of the Redeemed has a sound at the very beginning, I'm assuming MG for PC screwed up in making the wav file but it was two years ago so I really can't remember what the heck happened. Also, I notice I never added cymbals. >_>
