Title: Creating Swing [Triplet] rythms in MUSIC 2000/MTV MUSIC GENERATOR

Iv'e tried but it doesn't ad up mathmaticaly as you can see below,But you can always settle for the next best thing which doesn't sound half bad!

Ok so there are 4 beats per 1 bar
Each beat has space to place 4 notes
You want 3 notes per every beat(triplet)
XXX0XXX0XXX0XXX0
When you constuct your beats,If you use the note repeat settings below for each note you place be it a snare, kick,hihat etc.You should end up with swing.

Here is how i would set the note repeat for each 3 notes(triplet) of every beat(4 notes)
1st note of a beat
X0000000
2nd note of 1 beat
000X0000
3rd note of 1 beat
00000X00
It seems imposible to get perfect triplet in m2k........Unless that >>3 thing above where you place the note repeats has somthing to do with it?! There is 16 notes per bar 16 divided by 3 = 5.3....could it move the note repeat foward that 0.3 ? :)

PS,I'd like to add check your loaded percussion samples in the sample editor to make sure that they are trimmed correctly.If they are not it could make it sound off slightly,There are a number of percussion samples in this programme that have a gap of silence before the wave comes in.If this is the case then trim it up to where the sample really starts.Wouldn't make alot of difference to the ear,...But if you were a dj trying to get the beatmatch allignment perfect it could make a difference :)

To make it easier, go to "options" and change the time signature to 3/4. You won't be able to use pre-made riffs, but I never do any way, so...

 :o Can you do that in m2k? I didn't even know that..LOL I remember seeing that option in one of the MUSIC series generators,...But cant remember which one  :D

You can definitely do it in MG2 in the options screen.

For me it's difficult to imitate that beat. Maybe I could play it on a keyboard. I love beats and music like that, but to do it in that rational way is not easyyy. Because it is in English. A video of making of would be the best. Than I could understand more and more to create own things with such beats.

It is possible, however to preate a perfect triplet in Music 2000:

Simply create your riff 3 or 6 bars long, and first 6 beats as your bar.
So instead of this (1/2/3 etc = beat. | = bar ending in 4/4.)
1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4
You now have
1 2 3 4 | 5 6 1 2 | 3 4 5 6
This results in changing the riff from 3 bars of 8/8 to 2 bars of 12/8; now just use every six 16th notes as one beat: 3 16th notes is now worth a quaver (8th note).
For a swing beat, simply go: (key: X = note. ~ = hold. - = silence. || = bar ending in 4/4. ¦ = beat ending in 4/4.)

As you can see, when you repeat it, it syncs up perfectly. The only thing you need to take care in is making sure everything syncs up fine.

NOTE: The song is now 50% faster than the tempo specified; if you were to put in a tempo of 080BPM, the song now goes at 120BPM. I had to change the tempo manually so it staying in beat.

Hi again!

I tried my way to do a shuffle beat and a song written by a friend I created. It's not finished at all, but I want to show my first shuffle with music 2000! I never had thought I could do it with it. Now I must really say: You can do everything with it, if you know how!

All three of these are some good examples of how its possible to make triplets in the programme,
Even a mathematically perfect one.

It's possible to do any timesignature; provided it can be rounded up to however many bars in 4/4.

I've managed to do a bassline in 11/8. (one bar in 5/8, the next in 6/8) It took a while to work around so it worked, but it works.
