I personally don't have a PS3, being mostly a traditional RPG fan, but I got a Xbox 360 I occasionally turn ON to play Halo 3, Star Ocean 4, other RPGs and rarely Unreal Tournament 3. My Gamertag there is "Omnimaga"

A few days after the forum database crashed, TIMGUL still managed to hit 1 million page requests anyway, as some MP3 and other files that were present on the server for use with TIMGUL still received requests while the site was down, as an empty SMF install was alerady present on the server at the moment. Even if we do not count the downtime period, the site still hit the 1 million bar since its opening on October 29th 2007 in the last few days, as it was extremly close to 1 million the day we shutted down.

wow I was pretty shocked when I came back from work and saw this. I was not a fan of him but it's still shocking considering he was such a celebrity and he isn't that old.

Sorry to hear you're stopping MG2, but I think once you get used to new music softwares, the best thing to do is experiment and try new stuff. KNowing more softwares opens you to new horizons. I do hope you stay around, though and post some of your non-MTVMG tunes too.

Personally I will most likely stick to MTVMG1 as long as I will do japaneese-video game ish music and '90s happy hardcore/eurodance, but when I return to music, I seriously want to try pro softwares again. I still do hope for a new MTVMG in the future, though.

Good luck in your future music producing Pillagemyvillage :)

One thing that sucks though is that at one point in a semi close future, I had the idea of having a 10mins 59sec megamix of MTVMG/M/2K/3K tunes for youtube but I would have liked if the entire megamix was just RickRoll remixes :D, kinda to prank people who would like to hear a megamix of MTVMG stuff on Youtube :D. Oh well, I could always have it so it includes non-mtvmg tracks, though, I just wanted to prank other MTVMG users, something like "MTV MUSIC GENERATOR - The Best Of Megamix", then when it starts "Darn, not again!"

O.O

Really?

Hold on...

EDIT What error do you get when trying to upload an avatar? I checked the forum permissions and you should be able to upload an avatar fine, providing it's jpg, bmp, png or gif. Else, can you just put a link to it in your profile?

EDIT 2: I see now. If you link to an avatar, the site will resizes it automatically, but if you upload it from your computer, it will get refused if it's larger than 128x128 pixels.

This was going to be used in Super Star Hero RPG. The song has a style similar to early '90s japaneese games. Nothing will ever beat this song I guarantee you.

News and announcements / Database restoration
June 17, 2009, 09:54:39 PM
As you remember, one month ago, the forum database, as well as all backups, got corrupted during a board upgrade. We have never found the reason why this happened and the backup corruption directly on my own computer remains a mystery. I believe the site and my computer might have either been hacked or hit by a virus, but it could be a bug in SMF installation software as well.

Unfortunately, the restoration is still incomplete, as there are still some internal bugs that needs to be resolved before putting it back online. Also, this backup is from March 2009. The good news about this is that we're back to SMF 1.1.x, but the bad news is that all posts made after March 3rd were lost, as well as all member accounts, posts, private messages and personal settings. Several features also have been lost, since we are not planning to upgrade to 2.0 again, until SimpleMachines Team drops support for 1.1.x serie, like PHPBB did in 2008 with PHPBB2. For now, moderator settings has been set back to how they were before the crash, meaning JCW, Pillagemyvillage, Quade77 and Fear 2 Stop as moderators. Ban list was restored as well.

While the topics made after March 3rd are all gone, all songs posted after this date, except for Audioghost's and Bass Launch's, are still intact, in some forms, though. When the site will totally be fixed and reopened to public (hoping another crash won't occur), a new topic will be made in the music showcase section which will list all songs uploaded on the site. These files will not have any extension, due to how file attachments are stored on SMF and IPB, so you will need to save the file as mp3 on your computer. Also, they have very weird names, so you might have an hard time finding your own songs. Fortunately, all attachments starts with a number, which might help you figure out which ones are more recent and which ones aren't.

We do not know if the Original TIMGUL will ever recover from this database failure incident, as it has been so long since the site was down and since over 3 months of posts and songs were lost, not to mention there is another MTVMG site now at http://timgul.freeforums.org  (altough it isn't really a MTVMG-Only site, like The International Music Generator Users Lounge. It is more of a general music site with a MTVMG section with an userbase that is very open to MTVMG series). Hopefully maybe the community will slowly rebuild again and the site will retrieve the activity it used to have a month ago (and most of the members).

Many thanks to Netham45 (former administrator at http://www.omnimaga.org) for having managed to fix the forum database, something I've been trying to do in vain.

Nice to know, DarkBliss :D

That's sure one awesome avatar

I think it doesn't fit the 128x128 avatar size limit, though

I'll prbly start with trance and hardcore first, though, since I was supposed to have done so for a while now, but then trouble happened everywhere x.x (and got busy IRL x.x )

On a side note I just noticed the board reached 10000 posts. I don't want to post a news though because I absolutely wanted to do the "IT'S OVER 9000!!!" thing :P
#92
actually keep in mind it's only MTVMG/M2k/3k music mixes, though, and I still gotta update the links so the mixes remains directly on the server. Also, regular members cannot post mixes there, they need to be approved first

Damn, crazy times. Well it's V-Day today (Vote Day) Omni, when will it be finalised?
Not here yet, it will be finished wednesday night, meaning for you it will be close to Thursday morning.

As for votes, keep in mind that it isn't necessarly 19 people, though, since people can choose up to 4 choices, so it could be from 6 to 19 people or even less if the spam accounts were used to falsify the results

is there a pic attached to the song? I noticed that it sometimes cause problems when an album pic is attached to a mp3. In Windows Movie Maker the mp3 will often be labelled as damaged and in RPG Maker it will crash when playing it

I need to do that someday with the songs since this fall. I havent got time to listen to a lot x.x
#96
Yea I like it. When I hear about robots on TIMGUL I always think DarkBliss, Spacekid890 or Unforgotten_Village_Idiot, since you all got songs involving robots or robot in the title ^^

Ok, Bell Canada is in the process of buying the canadian division of Circuit City, The Source. In other words, no bankruptcy for the canadian stores... at least... for now.
