lol, they forgot the most necessary thing x.x

As for MTV Music Generator I don't really like it, because I don't like the controls. Moving the cursor is a pain and you have to use a different arrowpad/joystick to scroll. I prefered how in Music 2000 you moved the cursor to the edge of the screen to scroll and it was horizontal too. There are more RAM and there are lot of new samples though but most seems more like riffs so it's hard to use them when you use a different tempo.  It only costed me near $7 on amazon though so it isn't too bad

So messing around with MUSIC3000/PS2..it doesn't have the 1 sample I was looking for!! Also when I changed the start of a sample, (the BASS line I use in Heavy tune,) it instantly crashed!! Was thinking about making 3000 versions of some of me tracks but I don't think i'll bother, pretty much forgotten how to use it anyway..Is a cool program though

DJ_Omnimaga

even after getting mtv music generator 2 for a month i still use music 2000, for soem reasons I seem to like this one better despite of the limitations and its more user friendly

147 crew

I guess you stick to what you know..would be up for the better sound quality in MUSIC3000, just a shame you can't import the tunes you've made from the previous programme

DJ_Omnimaga

There aren't much sound quality difference on MTVMG imo. Idk if it's because i use an emulator instead of the real playstation but recorded songs almost sound like they were made with sonar, reason, cubase, etc

ahh good ol music 3000 crashes all the time! ive lost many tracks with those crashes! thats why i stick with mtvmg2.
i used music 2000 all the time but i guess ive stuck with mtvmg2 for a while now so im used to it. i guess thats the thing if you are used to something and happy with it why change?
i love all the music programmes except mtvmg3 which is terrible and talentless!

pillagemyvillage

lol! i get the feeling im the only pro mtvmg2 user! i reckon i wouldnt like it if it didnt have the same samples as music 2000! but to me it is essentially music 2000 but with different controls and interface, with a few more added samples...
the vocals are completely different but that doesnt matter as they,ve allways been rubbish anyway!
2 things that i miss from music 2000 are the note effects and that guy (cant remember his name) whos vocals include 'i see you havent lost your touch'.
he was awesome!
anyway i love mtvmg2 which to me is just as good as music 2000, just lacking those damn note effects!

DJ_Omnimaga

i noticed you are the only one who still use mtvmg2 on yt. THere was DJ Dark Drift but his tracks weren't that good imho and he left

pillagemyvillage

yes dark drift had some good quality remixes i think clubbed to death was one of them... but i havent heard much for ages...
so i guess i have to fight my mtvmg2 corner lol!

pillagemyvillage

mtvmg2 not a backwards step... not a step forward... but a step sideways!? lol!!

dont look to the right
just follow that sraight old line

pillagemyvillage

nice 1! the key is patience. if you've been using music 2000 for years its gonna be hard to begin with!!

pillagemyvillage

oh and email me if you need any help. if you give it time you can get some awesome sounds out of it!

trance-man

well I have rented it Back in 2002, so kind of have an Idea of what its like... I remember its a blue disc
dont look to the left
dont look to the right
just follow that sraight old line

DJ_Omnimaga

for me all ps1 discs are black and ps2 ones blue

trance-man

not all ps2 discs are blue
dont look to the left
dont look to the right
just follow that sraight old line

DJ_Omnimaga

i guess it must be something specific to each countries then. Here in north america all discs i got so far are royal blue

I was a little annoyed that the interface for MTVMG2 was so different, but it didn't take too long to get used to it.  I prefer hard rock/heavy metal and the guitar sounds in MG1 weren't all that "real" sounding for my tastes.  Using MG2, I was able to get more realistic guitar sounds - not completely real, mind you, but more real, nonetheless.

All in all, I'd say that they both have their good and not-so-good qualities, but I did prefer MG2.

MG3?  It looked to be more about just remixing someone else's songs and less about being creative.  I never even bothered with it.

good choice! mtvmg3 is only good for one thing... resting your beer on... or playing frisbie with... hmmm thats more than one thing... maybe mtvmg3 isnt that bad after all...
