Cool track. Nice structure. Love the sounds!,the smooth pad/synth, excellent bassline. A bit jazzy, reminds me of bluenote type stuff, but more edgy.
Looking forward to the high quality version!
Top work mate.

The music industry is a cruel beast. I would say that no matter what other people think, just keep doin the stuff you want to do. The moment you make music just in the hope someone else will like it, or changing your sound to cater for others taste is when youve 'sold out'. Sure, if you can do it well, get some recognition, then £££$$$$$ but will you be truly happy?

Being commercial or 'sold out' is not a bad thing though. It comes down to money. If you are paying bills and enjoying life then fairplay! If you are an experimental artist then use one name. When you make music for the masses... use another name! Having many production names (like norman cook) allows an artist to make different styles without losing integrity, plus its the production name that gets signed to a label, not the artist, so they're not tied in and are free to do what they really want outside the lable. Number 1 with bubble gum pop but at the same time someone's playing a deathcore white label(by the same producer) in some grotty underground club! (It does happen!)
Keep doin what u love guys. If you love 'pop' then fine,go for it. :)

upload a vid just as you would do a song (message options - atach file) Got to be under 6 meg though. You can atach multiple uplaods though,so maybe do it in parts. I know how to do triplet and swing but this would be a great insight for peeps who need a bit of help.
Nice one mate.

Hey Darkbliss, sorry to hear about your probs. I dont use minidisc but know people who do. As far as i know they dont have a life span(if looked after)i know peeps who use them for field recording etc... What i do know is that recordable minidisc is different from a pre recorded one(like a bought album) in that the recordable minidisc works just like a floppy disc. The data is magnetic(like a tape) not burnt or stamped like a cd. You may have wiped them due to being close to magnetic devices such as speakers or transformers (wall warts) or the data has been corrupted due to careless storage. Temperature has an effect so im told. My mate keeps his all together in a sealed tub under the stairs.
This probably doesnt help ur situation, but might be a reason why they dont work.

That is some serious badass bass!
The start is cool, quite trancy then thunders into the darker bit. It works really well.
Top work.

Thanks Nak. I must get round to doing a vid for this one.
The only sample is the one you hear at the begining lasting 8 beats. Its looped throughout the track, stuttered in parts using 'sample start' and envelope tweaks.
Everything else is music2000.
The sound at 1.32 is a music2000 sample which i think is electric guitar(cant remember which one) with modified attack and decay settings.
Here is the ORIGINAL four-tet version :-

Give it a few seconds...its not a joke video.

Agggrrhh feel ur pain on that one nak. I had a tune, only about 4 blocks big but it took ages to save. Got impatient with the 'varyfiing'(spell?) mem card bit and clicked cancel. It looked ok but the next time i loaded it was gone! That happend a few times. I now just leave it to do its thing. sometimes it can take 20 mins to save a complex tune. worth it though.
#72
Yeah, bit of a killer when you've got a really cool sample but no space left to put anything else in! lol. My mem card collection 27. Im waiting for 2 more to come through the door before i make another tune.Ebay's great!I dont delete anything,u never know when u might use something u thought sounded crap at two in the morning :)
#73
I know exactly what u are talking about. Swing/shuffle rhythm is quite hard to figure out. There are a few ways to do it,in various amounts of swing. Im just goin to check a track i did using swing and reply later with an explination (unless somebody beats me to it!) :)

Yeah, they are the same connection. I used that as an example of how to age the ps1. The ps2 (imo) has the better sound quality when sampling. The ad-da(analogue to digital, digi-ana) converters are higher spec. Just like a soundcard on a pc. You would use an expensive pro one over the cheap built in one anyday right? Yet if both sample at the same rate, the pro one sounds better (mainly)because of the quality of the converters. Also better chips to cut down on noise/interferance and hiss, latency issues, and signal path. All have a factor in how the final output will sound.

The playstation DOES sample at 44.1(cd quality). The problem i think is the ad-da converter. Older ps1's (made in the first year of production) have far better sound chips than the later ones.Ps1's with serial no scph-1001 had audiophile sound quality that matched high end cd players costing lots more! I have 2 ps1's. The one with the phono's at the back is far better for sampling a cd than the multi pin later version. Hardware changes over the years to cut costs etc.. and to fit in the slimline psx.My early ps2 is the best for sampling. What i put in is what i get out.
I have used a whole mem card on many occasions on one sample. Thats 4 seconds to fill 1 meg! Thats .wav size! (which is 44.1/16 bit). As for trimming,iv never had a prob. Iv sampled a drum loop then cut it back to get just one kick and it sounded fine.
Check:- http://www.mtv-music-generator.com/index.php?topic=1172.0  This is a track i used a very long sample in.It sounds exactly the same as the cd original. I trimmed it to.
It is interesting to hear people having these probs. What ps are u using?

Cheers guys!
Hmmm... daft punk. I have a filter box and vocoder, might try and work them into an M2000 production :)

Got the tune (and vocal mixes) onto yt last night. Links at top of page.

House/disco / Re: House track :- New york subways
January 17, 2009, 04:51:41 PM
You got a good ear irndemon! I forgot that was in there!
Yeah i sampled one of the snares from the break and piched it up. I gave the hits a 'swing' on the lead up to the beat.

Thats the only imported sample.
After listening to it in the car, i think the kick's a bit 'pippy'. Il sort that when i do the vid. (i remember it being real punchy when put through a big rig)

Thanks for the comment mate. You a vinyl fan too?
#79
This tune i did in 2001. I played this out djing but used to drop a cool accapella over it. Cant find the vinyl(il post a vid on YT when i do)
Anyways, inspired by chicago house, and new york garage scenes.
Its a bit repetitive but imagine a soul chick screamin her lungs out over it, and you get the idea.
Hopefuly it'l make ya dance!

Created on Music 2000 ps1.
