I added another glitch I discovered earlier this year. See first post, it's the memory leak glitch.

There we go!

I have absolutely no clue anymore why I used two copies of High Hit at the exact same sampling quality, though x.x

If I publish any of my songs, I will probably only bother about Europe and maybe Japan, because I doubt I would ever get signed in North America since you have to do mainstream over here to publish anything. I might just sell my music online, though. If I sell my stuff, I would probably grab my best work, find highest quality mp3 sampling versions and put them on one album. I would probably have one album with eurodance/italo and one with rave music.

Morning Moon Night or something like that made an album that had full of Music 2000 songs.

Wow thanks! I am kinda surprised to win to a certain extent, because I listened to every entries except the two last ones the other day and I liked all of them. My favourite of all is Nakamura's and Bass Launch. I liked Audioghost entry a lot too and the rest was great too. It must have been extremly hard to choose. I am not sure how long I would have taken to choose myself if I made a contest. I would surely have got to do some scoring on various points like you did, else I would have ended up not being able to give scores to songs x.x

Load of competition in terms of song quality. Plus lot of creativity went in that contest. A lot of these songs are not the usual stuff we hear on radio, yet it sounds better than most stuff we hear on radio, like with most other TIMGUL music. Had I got the ability to do this and the motivation to convert all 800 songs from this site into decrypted mp3 files, and no 100 GB monthly bandwidth cap, I would have a TIMGUL radio running 24/7.

I hope people continue making music like this and it really shows how far you can push Music 2000 series.

EDIT: I also planned to release a video of the song, showing all samples used and playing each riffs individually over here.

Was it the group of M2K users that went together to post tracks in one channel? IIRC this one had Metal Skeleton songs, which might explain why the account was suspended. Terminator authors seems to have become copyright-nazi in the past year or so, which sucks considering we aren't even making any money from our songs :S

I really need to listen to some stuff here again someday, I wish I had some more time

Anyway, I decided to submit something for the contest. It is two months old but due to the style it seems to fit Christmas time pretty well. I am sure some of you heard it before, since it has been on Youtube, Omnimaga and Myspace for a while, but I don't remember if I submitted it here before. It is similar to Dreamland, Enter The Dream World and X-Mas Core in terms of samples used. Like these songs, it was done using Music 2000 for the Playstation 1 and its samples. Genre is Happy Hardcore ('90s style). Download is avaliable below (320K MP3):

When chatting on IRC, this popped up:

[23:04:21] <Foxtrot200> Does anyone here have stereo mix? Microsoft turned into a copyright Nazi and took mine away.
[23:04:35] <~Jimmy|BSB> Took it away?! :o
[23:04:49] <Foxtrot200> It wasn't in my sound card update

I don't know if this is true and if it applies to all Windows updates and sound card updates, but this is not good for those who use ePSXe + MTVMG/M2K. If they get rid of my Stereo Mix option, I can say goodbye to Music 2000 producing. Thankfully, I got an old sound card that doesn't seems updated anymore, so maybe I'll be immune. I also have no clue on which OS this applies. I currently use Windows XP SP2.

But in any case, I would recommend against updating your sound drivers anytime soon.

I think the reason for doing this is because people abuse the Stereo Mix option to rip music from Youtube videos, other sites and video games. (I myself do)

can we talk about boobs rather than bollocks?
As long as you don't post any adult pictures or upload any adult material or copyrighted content, as my webhosting could take my account down :P

Well, OMnimaga started as some logo I used in video games I created myself (both on PC and TI-83), starting on September 1st 2001. My avatar is actually the first logo I ever used (altough bigger). Omnimaga was a made-up word with Omni prefix and magic. I wanted to go with Ultima (Final fantasy magic spell name) and Magic at first, but finally decided to go with Omni Magic, then  made the word Omnimaga.

Online I went by my Kevin, Kévin, Kevin9999 and Kévin9999 as nicknames, then slowly started using the nickname "xlibman" and "omnimaga" depending of which places I visited. xLIB was a software for TI-83 that I used a lot until I stopped making games for that platform for almost 2 years. In 2007 I finally switched to DJ Omnimaga at most websites and forums, which has been my music producer name as well since then. For music production, I went with my real name + last name in 2002-2004

We used to have this during two months once but it was taken down as it didn't work, for unknown reason. No matter if people added new albums, it would still show the old ones. I never understood why this happened.

You can add it back if you want to and test to see if it works, and even new mtv music sections, altough people still need to make sure that it won't become harder for users to find music they want (for example, if a person visits the site only for trance music he would miss every trance Zelda/Mario/Tetris covers and remixes if a VGM section was added. That's something to think about. Else, we would simply allow users to post VGM in multiple sections (like both trance and VGM, and in VGM, have him link to the file attachment stored in the other section, to not take twice as much space)

OH! One thing we must not forget in system requirements: The sound card. I do not know a lot about them, but I do know that if you have an old sound card that was not designed for music producing, then even if you got a quad core processor with 4 GB of RAM, you will still get massive slow downs or crunchy sound with certain VST plugins when you use too many at once. If your sound card can barely handle most video games made within the past 5 years, you'll have to stick to simpler songs or less advanced VST plugins.

So yeah, your PC needs to meet the requirements Quade mentionned, then have a relatively recent sound card. I myself can't exceed 6 midi channels at once during a song playback without getting slow downs during playback in most softwares with most plugins.

Basically, switching to pro equipment might cost you as much as $1500, assuming you paid for the plugins and softwares. For me it might be a bit more, as nothing new fits in my computer mother board (basically, if I want a new video/sound card or more RAM, I have to change the entire mobo, which means I would have to change everything else in it too, as it would no longer fit.)

i tend to not believe everything said on the Internet and TV, especially CNN, but I must admit that music was freaky

Hardcore / Not Another Fucking Hardcore Remix
July 04, 2009, 12:47:22 PM
Well I finally got some inspiration to make a new song, and this is what I got. Unfortunately it has been so long since I made a UK hardcore tune so I'm a bit rusty. As for the song title, I chosen it because at one point I stopped listening to pretty much any UK hardcore tune because almost everything were remixes of older tunes (no offense to anyone producing remixes, as a lot of them are good), sometimes with just new sounds added over a pitched up song. Most are good but I always seen a lack of originality in UK hardcore. However, at the same time the song title can mean that it's yet another remix in some ways, because as you will notice, the song has the same chord progression as Grooving To The Melody. Anyway this might not be my greatest song, since I am more into eurodance and happy hardcore producing rather than UK hardcore, but you can listen anyway below either at Youtube or uploaded file:

EDIT: This is a Music 2000 track, btw

I needed to send this to someone but since I disabled PMs on my account I thought: why not sharing them to public instead? So here they are. They're from the SSH RR cover. Sorry for terrible recording quality.

I forgot to say, since several of this forum members are almost as old or much older than me, a lot might know about Starcraft or might have even played it before. For those who don't, this is the most popular real-time strategy game ever made and sold for millions of copies. It came out in 1998, but it's so incredibly popular that even today it is still under production and it was even made compatible with Windows XP. There are even still occasional updates and security patches being released online. I believe it even works on Windows Vista. It plays like Warcraft III in some ways, but it's faster-paced and allows for more units in your army (200 max, while WCIII is 90). Even after 11 years, on Battle.Net there are still over 9000 people online every night playing it online, split via 4 servers. This doesn't count the 500 or so people who plays it on a pirate server. Since it's very old, it looks crappy on wide-screen monitors and graphics are very dated, but if anyone like strategy games here I still play occasionally on Battle.Net on US.East. Here are my screennames there:

Starcraft Classic (US West): DJ_Omnimaga
Starcraft Classic (US East): Omnimaga
Starcraft Classic (Europe): Omnimaga
Starcraft Classic (Asia): ------- (I don't play there because nobody speaks french nor english)

Starcraft Brood War Expansion Set (US West): DJ_Omnimaga
Starcraft Brood War Expansion Set (US East): DJ_Omnimaga
Starcraft Brood War Expansion Set (Europe): DJ_Omnimaga
Starcraft Brood War Expansion Set (Asia): ------- (No french/english speaking people, so I don't go there)

Note: I am on Brood War US East the most often. I got about 500 total games played there. I used to mostly play Classic mode on US East and have 300 games there, but nowadays I mostly play the Expansion.
