I do believe everything uploaded before March has sadly been corrupted.

no, i guess not everything. some files are corrupted, some others aren't. (i'm pretty sure about that because i've downloaded lots of songs since the reopening and most of them were quite old).

@OverKlockD: any chances to hear new songs of yours?

again, welcome here keithsonic (keith, maybe?). you seem very motivated and that's very cool, that's just what we need here. so enjoy your stay, and don't forget to leave some comments yourself! (we have a huge database of songs here, but probably you already know that by now)
oh, and your friend seems to be a good musician. why don't you invite him to join too?
#225
okay, so it seems we have 2 guys here (pillage and quade of course) who are planning a long term cooperation... that is very interesting, makes me wonder how would it be to cooperate with another timgul member or even another artists from the outside world.
so that's where my question comes from..which artists would you like to cooperate with? i mean timgul guys, or even famous artists... feel free to express yourselves with some freedom

Lost songs (MUSIC/MTVMG) / Re: Creatormusic - Track01
August 08, 2009, 10:19:23 AM
first things first, welcome here.  :)

i checked your friend's song, it's very interesting, moody,  has a cinematic style i like a lot. very very good use of pads and strings, also nice choice of premade beat. not sure about the use of that syn brass, which is a bit too loud. oh, nice riff at 3.14.
very interesting stuff. can't wait to hear more from him (and from you of course  :) )

there's something wrong with the download. it's taking way too long and it's very frustrating. i guess you should check out the problem and fix it.

it also seems this problem concerns other songs you've posted

at 1:39 when u drop in the sawtooth sample, i'd love to hear that fade in over 8 blocks or so, maybe with reverb (red square to yellow - top right somewhere, in riff editor if u know what i mean!)
john, my friend, what are you babblin' about?  :D there's no such thing in music3000!  ;)
the lack of reverb in this song is not TPT's fault, it is due to the flawed reverb of music3000 itself.

imo the best thing about this song is the beat, so minimal yet very effective, and the bassline (also the electric bass is cool, just need an extra reverb for that).
suggestions:
-add some snare fills right before the beat drops (for example at around 1.32) and apply a crash cymbal (class crash/crashed/long mute/crashexpect etc) everytime the beat starts or drops (at 1/16) to add some more emphasis to it.
-reduce just a bit the volume of the lead synth
-the sfx at 1.20 is too loud and imho unnecessary
-add some more melody variation, or the main riff is going to be too repetitive. try adding a completely different set of melodies at around 2.00 ...
-as usual use another program in combination with music 3000 to enhance the reverb!

hope you find this useful

welcome back then, i'm curious to listen to your new stuff

I see people that are honestly less talented than I am driving expensive cars, living in big-ass houses, and it makes me sick to my stomach

yes, that's too true. but i fear that packing up a professionally produced record with some radio-friendly content is still not enough to ensure you/me/us all to make it big. just take a look around in all the free music sites over the world...man, you can find remarkable artists there but still they're no rich nor famous no matter how radio-friendly their music is. moreover, we live in the mp3/ free file sharing era, where most of the people are not going to pay any money to get some music. some decades ago things were different but now it seems to me it's way harder to make it big and make some real money out of music production.

same as quade here.

@billy: i understand what you mean and how you feel, but unfortunately being ignored by the masses is the destiny of most of us amateur underground musicians. i can't really say what is the best thing to do, personally i hate advertising my music too much as i consider advertising very very annoying. maybe going for pop music might help, but would you be satisfied with that? furthermore, there are so many amateur artists in the world, there's so much competition.. and most of those artists are going to be unnoticed forever, no matter how good they are (i'm sure we all know some great musicians who can't seem to make it big even if they're extremely good) or what they do to promote their songs. i know well this is hard to accept but i fear there's no much we can do about that.

and of course i'd like to receive more feedback (who doesn't?) too, but i know this problem involves anyone so that's why i use to think there's no point complaining too much about that
#233
quade's idea is the best imo, however it's going to be difficult to make it work. there are just too many songs to listen to in each category and i'm not sure that many users have the will or the time to check that many songs. moreover we should think about the categories and this would get even more complicated.
i say let's make it as simple as possible. let's just write down our 10 favourite songs for now, then we could check if some songs are included in the lists of various users. those could be considered the best songs.
'song of the month' is a cool contest, but how can we vote with considering the currrent lack of partecipation to the forum?
#234
thanks for listening. all the sfx are from music3000. not the reverb, of course. but how can you listen to this song with your broken $150 headphones?  ;)
#235
welcome aboard then! so you're a long time MG user? cool, i can't wait to listen to your music
#236
so i finally have the chance to listen to one of your songs. very very nice, it is catchy yet it is not repetitive, nor annoying. i like it, and i like this musical style. i agree, the clapped snare is a bit dull, i'd prefer a brighter and sharper sample. maybe you should reduce a little the reverb of the gritty bass (but not too much). nevertheless i really enjoyed this song and i'd like to hear more from you

let's see, it usually crashes when you...
- overwrite a file when saving. the file gets corrupted very often, unless you change the file name
- try to customize the panning or the sample volume.  if you use pre-made settings it usually doesn't crash
- load a sample from the sample library when you have already loaded lots of samples

thanks quade i'd love to try those VSTs. most likely i won't upload any more trials unless they are decent enough to me, i just posted this one here because i was very excited about the idea of getting the grip of this program's basics for the first time. now i'll go through a long, lonely period of training. there's so much i have to learn. anyway for now i won't let go the use of music generator. probably i'll try to combine all the programs that i have.
again, thanks quade for getting me started, i'll do my best not to disappoint your expectations. just hang in there, i'll be back in this ableton section as soon as possible
