Albums / Not a Number: DAY ONE EP (2011...
Last post by Not a Number - June 30, 2011, 10:02:36 PM

Finally, folks, a proper album/EP release of mine. Granted, it's my third overall, but it's the first one which has the style of music I intended.

Day One is a four-track collection of songs I made during my studies at college, which also serves as a portfolio for when I ever get to study music further, or anything else relevant. There have been a whole bunch of songs that I wrote during this time ("They Don't Know", "(Release) The Animal Inside" and "This is why I shouldn't have ideas" to name a few.. since they're the only ones with names), but I left those out of this, as they were all at different stages of completion - maybe I'll carry them over for the album, it just depends if I ever get a Mac and Logic at home; since my studies at college are now officially over, I'm back to solely using Music 2000 on PS1/PC until then (Ideally, I'd want to get them asap; I've put a tentative date of Dec '12 for the next release).

Tracklist:
01. Clockwork 2011 (8:15)
02. Aphelion (9:24)
03. Build Around You (Monster) (4:50)
04. The Unlucky Ones Are Those Who Escape* (4:36)
*re-recorded as WAV, since Bandcamp won't allow mp3 uploads
TOTAL TIME: 27 MINUTES

Also note: I have put it as "name your price"; while you can download it for free (just set the price to £0.00), bear in mind this account only has 200 overall free downloads available (until the 20th of each month, in which it's bumped back to 200) before Bandcamp puts a price on it - and I don't know if I have to set it or if they put it there themselves - I'm very new to Bandcamp so I'm still figuring out how this thing works. That said, if you do want to pay for it, then I ain't stopping you. \/\/

So without any more delays, enjoy.

Or endure, whichever applies. :P

Terminal

Weird how some days you can feel lost and be like " I can't write anything , nothings coming " and other weeks you just can't seem to stop yourself. I figure this is one of the good weeks.
In about 10 yrs of writing and about a yr or so of doing stuff with strings in some way , this is the first I have ever written
that has the " Long Horn " sample on...which I dunno why I haven't added before. But I can really appreciate the fuller sound I was striving to get with this one.
Anyhoo...enough yammering.

Just taking an overall listen to this first before commenting. I thought like you'd made a straight up mainstream rap beat , the way you were flogging urself. I really didn't expect a J-machine influenced track to come out.
And to be honest it was a very nice suprise. Really like the bass , the drumwork as always is brilliant but what suprised my the most was that really nice flute melody and the kinda spacey-ish pad melody that also come in.
Really nice work Z , you should totally dabble in other stuff more often.

Techno/Trance / Re: Seb@s - Juump !!!

thanks DJ Eddy.  :)

i have planned nothing, no special melody in mind.
i firstly done the beat (hit-kick-clap) , i did the complete jumpy melody after (the one fading-in in the begin of the track) and the bass-line.
<i have cloned the song at this point, it evolved differently, the jumpy sound is not there, replaced by an old Dance synth (i worked a few hours on it yet) a kind of alternate of Juump !!!, let me know if you want to listen, but i don't know if i am satisfied with it to share it as it is actually... maybe later>

Music is just an alchemy of sounds, sometimes you find an alchemy & i think here it's a very catchy Music (BPM maybe a bit fast).
also when i found more sounds to add, i played with the riffs, fade & pan (pan is very important for the dynamism of your track, never underestimate it, a track w/o left-right effect is not really finished).

i could upload the Version 1 of the track if you want it (a bit slower, 133 BPM if i am right) but there is less sounds, less effects & there is not a big difference with the build of the track ...
let me know...

maybe the next time , my composition will not be so great as this Title is  :-\.

wait & see  ???, heu listen, listen !
WAIT & LISTEN   ;D

//EDIT:
added the MP3 version of the track.

This is good work Z! Feeling the Melody! Bass is clean. Great drumwork.
