Yep, I know its a strange title... but its kind of named after a friend of mine. Mixture of my own stuff and various riffs from Music 2000.

Lost songs (MUSIC/MTVMG) / Spooked
March 31, 2008, 03:51:37 PM
This is amongst my oldest tunes..in fact this was only my 3rd tune whilst experimenting with the "very new" MUSIC: Music creation for the playstation (as it was marketed in the UK). Otherwise known as Music Generator.

Anyway...where the hell did that 10 years go??? lol.

A composition of my own stuff with various library riffs mixed in.

Lost songs (MUSIC/MTVMG) / Astoridium
January 25, 2008, 11:40:09 AM
This was the first tune I made using MTV MG2 and is quite a mix of library riffs and my own work. Making this helped me get a feel for the program although in truth I do prefer the earlier versions of music generator.

House/disco / Ambivalence

Just adding another tune to the list, this one I made in 2001 and comprises my own riffs, library riffs and various adapted and customised riffs. I really liked my use of the voices in this one, especially during the last half of the tune which occur at various parts. The video I made for this can be found on youtube here...

House/disco / Dark Journey
November 13, 2007, 02:26:41 AM
This was meant to be a toned down version of another tune of mine which I have yet to upload. However this tune ended up being nothing like its "parent" tune in the end. This is called "DARK JOURNEY", its quite a "brooding" tune and theres a change of direction in it at about 2:30sec which I like.

I also made a video for it which can be found here:

I bought this quite cheaply a few months ago and could'nt make head nor tail of it. It had greatly limited scope as you had to base your tunes around the 10 artists on the disk.

Snazzy to look at but scant when it came to substance - it had just one redeeming feature in my view - and that was the riff editor. It was the only thing that impressed me as that would have been really useful on early versions. I've loaded it up twice so far...but its clearly a DJ's plaything above anything else so I doubt I'll be loading it up again.

Lost songs (MUSIC/MTVMG) / EVREEBODEE!

Well... quite an experiment this one. lol. I naively thought I'd attempt a novelty rock tune which would have a drum solo somewhere along the way. This proved to be the tricky part (I'm no drummer and so it was a case of keep moving around the beats I'd created and editing etc until it worked, lol). Originally the guitaring was going to be more complex...until I came to do it and realised I'm no guitarist either..thus I kept my guitar riffs fairly straight forward.

Introductions / who am I?
November 09, 2007, 11:11:54 AM
Just thought I'd give myself a bit of a proper introduction to you all here.

Firstly, although I don't have an actual background in music I was very enthusiastic about the series of music creation programs when they first appeared.

Consequently, what probably takes some of you more naturally musically minded a few hours or days to complete - probably takes me a week or two, lol. My first few attempts were fairly straight mixes as I got to feel my feet as it were. The more I used the programs, the more experimental I got and the more of my own riffs and music I incorporated and the more I customised and changed any library ones ones. Franky, to make anything half decent that is not just a lego-brick assembly of straight library riffs you have to be imaginative and customise and use your own stuff to get an original soudning tune. I'm so far happy with the results of most of my stuff and there are a few more that got abandoned along the way due to lack of inspiration, lol.

The first music program I ever used was a thing called "Octamed" which was in the days of the old Amiga computers. It was hard to get seriously good quality out of it although I did use if for a few years before the "MUSIC" for PS1 came on the scence.

MUSIC / A game? Surely not?
November 08, 2007, 11:22:44 PM
I remember when I first saw Music (music generator) advertised in a magazine that it was listed under "games" I always disliked that because I felt that labelling it a game demeaned it and did'nt represent it in the correct light. Although it was reasonably simple to get to grips with on a basic riff block building level there was clearly so much more to it if you put the effort in. I still think its great but don't really use it now, but it was - and still is great.

House/disco / Happy Apparition
November 08, 2007, 09:05:10 PM
When I made this I had no idea how to end it other than fading-out. I never liked fading if I could help it as it always seemed like a cop-out but in this case it turned out to be exactly the right thing to do.

Only 3 of my tunes ended in fade-outs and in each case it was only used because it turned out to be the right option. For this one I used some library riffs, customised riffs and my own riffs and sounds.

my video version of this can be found on youtube

Lost songs (MUSIC/MTVMG) / Dance Mission X
November 07, 2007, 09:14:20 PM
Another tune that I made in 1999 with the first of the Music generator programs. This was in fact the last one I made with that before I moved on to using music 2000 / mtv music generator.

I made a video for this too using its video making program. I actually made videos for all of my tunes which are viewable on youtube. My user name on there is also KalsolarUK.

I believe I made this in 1999 using the first of the music generator programs. Most Quite mellow and changes nicely as it goes along.

MTV Music Generator 2 / A Backwards step?
November 07, 2007, 01:38:27 PM
I only made one tune with MTV music generator 2, mainly because in many ways I felt that the program was a backwards step. It felt more restrictive, the note effects were gone and the video making aspect was just awful to get to grips with. It was so counter-intuitive to use on the video front. As for MTV MG3.... oh dear... now that really was a waste of money.
