I would just like to drop by and say "Happy birthday" to the forum  :)
I think that it is great that there is a forum like this for all the like minded users of the MTVMG/Music series and also I would like to say a very happy tenth birthday to the release of the first ever Music program in the series intitled simply just "Music" for PS1.
I guess that Jester interactive and Codemasters would not even begin to imagine how much of a cult following their programs would receive back ten years ago.

All the best to everyone...Peace out.

MUSIC / Can anyone re-make 'Music' CD?
November 10, 2007, 10:04:22 PM
A good idea but I don't think it would be possible too, you would need some serious knowledge about what you was doing. It would be far easyer to buy something like Cakewalk Kinetic for PC, it's fairly simple to use, has good sound quallity and is simular to Music 2000/MTV MG.
Just an idea ; )

This track sounds full on professional, it's got that Breeze & Styles kind of feel to it.

Top song, you've really pushed the limits of what is possible with MTV Generator on this one. It's got a true Hardcore energy feel.
Nice one..

Not bad. I can hear a few pre-set riffs, but you made them fit together well.

MUSIC / A game? Surely not?
November 09, 2007, 01:26:46 AM
Music generator for PS1 was released in 1998 just before Music 2000, I don't think it was released in the US (I'm not sure).
It was very basic and only had minimal sound samples. All of the sounds was later included in Music 2000 enabling you to load the songs that you made in Music Generator on to Music 2000 and remix your songs.

Here's a link to the Jester interactive site with a little info: http://www.jesterinteractive.com/music/flashIndex.html

MUSIC / A game? Surely not?
November 08, 2007, 11:51:45 PM
Yeah I get annoyed when people call it a game, it's not as if you can get to level ten and die or anything lol. I see it more as a cost effective peace of software that allows you to create music on a Playstation. Ideal for beginners or those who don't own a PC.

Did you know that you can load songs from your memory card that you created with the original Music Generator on to Music 2000 and remix them?

MTV Music Generator 2 / A Backwards step?

Yeah it's always good to have back up copy.
The original Music generator, that brings back some memories. It was officially endorsed by Judge Jules if I remember correctly.

$119.95??? wow!!! I bought another copy of Music 2000 for £1 in a bargain bin a few years ago. $119.95 that's crazy.

I think the full name is 'Funk master flex's Digital hitz factory', thats the US version of Music 3000.

Here I found it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B...94561176&sr=8-1

I see second hand copies of Music 3000 occassionally, usually priced around £10 ($20). But they will only work on the pal region 2 Playstation2.

Keep looking on ebay though ; )

MTV Music Generator 2 / A Backwards step?

No not really, it's simular to Music 2000 but the overall lay-out is different. I think I made my first track within two weeks of buying it.
It not too hard to use.

MTV Music Generator 2 / A Backwards step?
November 07, 2007, 05:14:22 PM
Yep MTV Generator 3 has to be the worst of them all, it's just another one of those sample based arranging programs like ejay.
Music 3000 for PS2 is quite good, it's got 16,000 instrument samples, 20 different studio effects and 64 channels and came with a USB sampler that you can use to sample about 12 seconds of audio from an external source.
The overall sound quallity is really good but there are many bugs and glitches. i.e If you have too many riffs in your song, some of them get missed out during play back. Play back is generally not very tight at all and some riffs sound out of sync with the beat.
Fortunately the arranger can be customised to be horrizontal or vertical and theres a great deal of customization for other aspects of the program.
Overall you can make some seriously creative tunes, shame about the glitches though.

I think Music 2000/MTV MG is a lot better.

MTV Music Generator 2 / A Backwards step?

Yep I agree on this, I didn't like the fact that the song arranger sequencer scrolled vertically instead of horrizontally. The sound quallity was generally better and warmer than Music 2000 but not as tight during playback. I don't think I ever finished making a track with this program.

I give it a 4/10

This track was inspired by the sound track from a video game called Gun.
This track is quite depressive and emotional....enjoy

House/disco / CRW: I feel love (The Piscean rmx)
November 07, 2007, 01:56:25 PM
I absoloutly love the original Mauro Picotto mix of this song, a classic late 90's Ibiza anthem.
I was just messing around layering some dream strings and noticed that it was in the same key as CRW's I feel love, so I recreated the lead riff from that song. Then sampled the vocals from the original and placed them over the top using Sony acid when it was finished.
It quite a shame that you can't use the USB sampler from Music 3000 on Music 2000.

Music genre: Ambient style Trance
