Quotegood choice! mtvmg3 is only good for one thing... resting your beer on... or playing frisbie with... hmmm thats more than one thing... maybe mtvmg3 isnt that bad after all...
You forgot Christmas tree ornaments, earings and I'm sure I remember someone once made a dress out of a bunch of discs.

They have lots of uses.   ;)

I have a bunch that I use as dust collectors (keeps it from getting all over stuff I actually use)

ah yes christmas wouldnt be the same without mtvmg3 decorating the tree...
it also keeps burglars out... when they see you have mtvmg3 in your house they feel sorry for you, leave money and run far far away...

mhmm for me in North America Music 3000 actually has the controls in the instruction manual, but the manual is so short it's only a getting started guide, basically. I still managed to do a song without reading it nor the in game tutorials though, altough it could have been because I alerady used previous music programs before

Making a fashionable cape and perhaps a matching hat?

(I just hope I'm the only one who got the reference...)

DJ_Omnimaga

I doN't understadn it x.x I guess I doN,t get the reference x.x

But yeah MTVMG4 can let you make awesome songs within so few time, and by good song I mean using your own melodies, not only premade riffs or remixing an artist song, I mean true original work. But it's so limited that you'll get bored after making a dozen of songs

Yeah my 2 favourite MTVMGs are the first one (Music 2000) and the 2nd one. I use MTVMG3 and Music 3000 sometimes but MTVMG3 is so limited since it was more designed to advertise MTV rap/mainstream club artists and remix their songs than making your own, and with Music 3000 I don't like how the reverb effects are mono. It's hard to make a song as good as in MTVMG1/2 in Music 3000 because of that

DJ_Omnimaga

Actually the problem with 3000 is more the interface and sound quality. In MTVMG2 they tried to make a mouse like interface. Yes it was hard to get used to the dual joystick or joystick+arrow pad controls and adjusting the cursor took a while, but at the end you got used to it. Music 3000 takes the Music Generator 2 controls and even allow horizontal scrolling setting like Music 2000 (which I love), but the buttons are way too small so it's annoying to select something like a riff. For some reasons I also noticed sound memory doesn't seems to get filled as fast as with MTVMG1 and 2, even if sound quality is better, but the mono reverb instead of stereo like in Music 2000, MTVMG2 and 3 makes it hard to have songs with lot of deep, so a trance song can be extremly hard to make. Not to mention reverb effect seems to work globally, not on riffs with reverb enabled. This means even kickdrums seems to have reverb, which can give weird results sometimes. Also setting effects on samples individually is a challenge. SOmetimes it will edit the duplicates of the same samples alerady loaded in too, which means if you ddin't saved and forgot where you took the sample you need to reload :S

As for MTVMG3 not being made by jester is really noticeable as they completly went away from the original concept of these softwares, which was to allow everyone to create their very own music. It's very limited compared to MTVMG1 and 2

Fear 2 Stop®

I've had this for 7 years now...got it as a wedding present from my friend Raymond. Kinda poetic because the three of us have been making music with it now for...7 years as "Fear 2 Stop". 7 years, and I'm still finding new tricks and new ways to make sounds. For comparison's sake I haven't touched MG1 now in a few years, and quit messing around with DHF shortly after buying it. MG2 doesn't seem that userfriendly if you are used to MG1, but once you get the hang of it it actually is more so. I like how much easier it is to make panning & volume effects, and one good thing about the vertical scrolling is that I like making shapes! You'd be surprised to see what can result just by making shapes in the riff editor (balloons, happy faces, spelling out words vertically). Couldn't do that with the others.

DJ_Omnimaga

oh lol yeah it was fun to try making icons in it. In music 2000 it wasnt too hard but it didn't always looked as good because of the lighter riff colors on darker background. it was more suitable for text

Fear 2 Stop®

I did an entire song just by making shapes & stuff. I'll post it in the appropriate forum. It was so much easier to do that since it was arranged vertically. In all honesty, when I first got MG2, my wife hated the vertical scrolling as she was used to the horizontal one from the 1st edition. After about a month though, we found it impossible to go back.

I was stunned how MTVMG3 was pretty much just a remix disc I was expected M3K, MTVMG2 etc. So hahah, I agree a little with all the jokes but I still feel bad for the game :P

Casper AudioGhost

that's understandable:) i really feel bad for ppl who paid full price thinking it was like music 2000.i paid 30 dollars and sold mine for 8 about a month later i hated it that bad.i don't have a ps2 anymore tho

I picked mine up for around 2.99 in my local Blockbusters and played it twice. Can't compain, it looks good in the shelf with the other Music series lol.

DJ_Omnimaga

I got mine for $0.01 on Ebay, altough shipping costed $7.98. I bought it this summer when the Canadian dollar was pretty high so it ended up at like $6.90 total in the end

I have m2k,mtvmg2 & m3k i also have the usb sampler but i tend to just stick to m2k because i find it much more user freindly in terms of controlls and because it has some wicked preset effects ;D.But the main big difference for me is that in m2k when i construct beats, it allows me to build a breakbeat all in one riff ,more than one channel with layered notes, somthing that comes in very handy when you want to create intelligent break patterns using the cut, copy&paste tecnique.Basicly allows you to make a 1 bar break in an 8 bar riff with layered notes, then you can copy small sections of the first bar and strategicaly paste them in the remaining 7 bars.Would be a nightmare in the other two :) I've always had problems with playback in m3k,always seems out of sync slightly :-\ Just been listening to seiphers new dnb tune,Killer Drums!! it seems he doesnt have this problem with it.
